I come from a well-known city in Memphis, a city that can create and destroy dreams, something my parents understood. This is why they moved me to Atlanta for high school, where I found my calling. Throughout my life, I went through the usual jobs all kids want: policeman, fireman, and more, but the allure of film was always calling to me from a young age, so no wonder why I gravitated towards it. If I had to tell a story that personifies this love, then I would tell the story that has defined me ever since I experienced it. The story takes place in 2020. Now at this point in my life, I didn’t know what the future held for me. Did I want to be an engineer, a football player, maybe even a realtor? I was thinking due to high school just starting, and I pondered, tossing and turning every night and thinking every evening until something caught my attention. A movie named Ford v Ferrari. On paper, it was just another movie meant for car heads and thrill-seekers. For me, it was different. It was a creative avenue, a look into a world where creativity can roam without math problems, life decisions, or dreadful mornings. A paradise for my creative mind. I was introduced to the world of film. A world that now takes up the majority of my life; not a day goes by where I can’t make a film-related quote or discuss and analyze films in ways I could have never imagined. Christ, I even ruined Home Alone for me and my family forever due to my critiquing, but I enjoyed it. This now leads me down a path where I strive to become a director and create films that one day I hope can become the next Ford v Ferrari for a young and aspiring filmmaker. Let’s just hope it doesn't come through another widespread pandemic. A vision I have is that I want to be able to help rehabilitate my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up in Memphis, you experience a ton of hardship and see a lot of struggles. While I never had to experience this hardship, many of my family members had, and I could do nothing but watch. So, growing up, I always wanted to help my family out and give them the life they deserved, but now that I'm older, I see a bigger picture. My vision is to help my entire city. Memphis was once a beautiful, ecstatic place to eat, listen to music, and just enjoy the amenities provided, but over the years, due to crime and struggle, that has dwindled to nothing. I hope to gain a gifted education to become a major filmmaker. When I have accomplished this, I hope to open a studio in Memphis to give people jobs, hope, and passion. In the end, I hope to inspire my hometown to rise back to its heights and become a tourist hotspot again.
