The one piece of technology that has constantly struck me with awe is the sewing machine. It amazes me that a tool most people now have no interest in operating could cause a tremendous wave of innovation. Growing up, I always adored sewing dresses and quilts with my Nana. It was such a splendid way to pass the time. I enjoyed it so much that ever since I have learned to embroider and crochet as well. I cherish the time I spent with the sewing machine and my Nana to this day. I have learned how to mend clothes and recycle clothes to make them look new. People often overlook sewing because it can take too much time, or they could hop on down the street and buy new clothes. Sewing your clothes allows you to be creative and wear something unique. When you sew your clothes, no one will have the same fabric and pattern combination. No one else will have the same buttons or patches. Your clothes are all your own when you make them yourself. If someone stops you on the street and asks where you got your pants, you can proudly say you made them yourself. Sewing is becoming a lost art. I suppose that no matter what new technology emerges, sewing machines are here for good. Humans desire an outlet for creativity, but functionality is equally vital. Sewing fuses creativity and functionality to allow us to be different and showcase our skills. Understanding how to repair clothes can save money. The sewing machine is one of humanity's most significant inventions.
