Since I was in the sixth grade I have been volunteering at my church with the special needs ministry. This allowed me to form a lot of connections with local charities and other ministries throughout the community. I have recently been offered a job at a local adult special needs ministry working with adults that have conditions such as autism and down syndrome. I could not be more excited to be able to continue to grow my passion for working with people. When I am volunteering at my church I work with children with conditions such as down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and more. I have done a lot of work with them including summer camps, Sunday school classes, and organizing craft days. This work has grown my passion for caring for kids. I find a lot of joy in my experiences in my church ministries and through the community. Through this, I have had a lot of contact with people in the medical field. I have been able to hear about their experiences. This is what inspired me to dream of working in the medical field. For the longest time, I did not know exactly the job I wanted in the medical field but recently I completed an internship in a physical therapy clinic and fell in love with the job. I was able to shadow real physical therapists and see what they do on a daily basis in the office. I was able to learn how to better communicate with different types of people. This has further grown my passion for working with people, specifically in the medical field. I think working in the medical field would bring me a lot of joy because of my passion for caring for people.

As a Christian, being an American means a lot to me. America is a land of freedom, diversity, and opportunity. It is a country that has been built on the principles of democracy, justice, and equality. As a Christian, I believe that these principles align with the teachings of the Bible, and therefore being an American holds a significant place in my heart.
To me, being an American means having the freedom to practice my religion without fear of persecution. The United States was founded on the idea of religious freedom, which means that I am free to worship God in the way that I choose. This is a right that many people in other parts of the world do not have, and I feel blessed to live in a country where I can openly express my faith.
Being an American also means living in a country that is diverse and accepting of all cultures and backgrounds. As a Christian, I am called to love and respect all people, regardless of their race or ethnicity. The United States is a melting pot of cultures, and I believe that this diversity is what makes our country great. It allows us to learn from one another and to grow as individuals and as a society.
Another important aspect of being an American is the opportunity to pursue the American Dream. This means that I am free to work hard and achieve my goals, regardless of my background or social status. As a Christian, I believe that God has given me unique talents and abilities, and it is my responsibility to use them to make a positive impact in the world. The United States provides a platform for me to do just that.
Lastly, being an American means being part of a community that values justice and equality. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to seek justice for the oppressed. The United States has a rich history of fighting for civil rights and equal treatment for all people. As a Christian, I am called to be a voice for those who are marginalized and to work towards a more just and equitable society.
In conclusion, being an American means a great deal to me as a Christian. It means having the freedom to practice my religion, living in a diverse and accepting society, having the opportunity to pursue my dreams, and being part of a community that values justice and equality. As I look towards the future, I am grateful to be an American and to have the chance to make a difference in the world.

My core values have developed through my experiences and guide me in making decisions, shaping my identity, and living a meaningful life. My core values are integrity, compassion, and perseverance.
Integrity is the value that I value the most. It is the foundation of all my relationships and interactions with the world. I believe that honesty and consistency are essential in building trust and credibility. It means being true to oneself and others, even when it is hard. I apply integrity to my civic engagement work by making sure that I am transparent and accountable to the community. In my academic studies, I practice empathy by putting myself in others' shoes and understanding their perspectives. It helps me to broaden my understanding of the world and to be more inclusive in my thinking. In my relationships, I value kindness, empathy, and active listening. I make sure that I am present and attentive to the needs of others and respond with empathy and understanding.
Perseverance is the third core value that is important to me. It is the ability to push through challenges and to remain committed to one's goals. I believe that perseverance is essential in achieving success and personal growth. It means not giving up when things get tough and staying motivated even when progress is slow. I apply perseverance to my civic engagement work by being persistent in pursuing change and justice. I know that change does not happen overnight, and it requires patience and determination. Tennis has been a significant influence in my life since I was in the 8th grade. It has taught me the importance of discipline, hard work, and perseverance, which have helped shape me into the person I am today. I first picked up a tennis racket when I went out with one of my friends to play around for fun. My parents enrolled me in tennis camps for fun when I was a kid, but I never got serious about it until 8th grade. As I started to play on the JV team it taught me the value of preparation and the rewards of effort. In high school, I worked hard to move up the roster and become part of the number one doubles duo on Varsity. I felt I had earned my position but when the season started I ended up in the last spot on the Varsity roster. Halfway through the season I twisted my ankle and had to be out for a good part of the season. I thought that my season was over and I wouldn’t be able to put my hard work to the test. I decided that I was going to work hard to get back so I started doing everything I could to heal. After a month and a half, I decided that I was going to slowly get back on the court. Near the end of the season, I was back playing on the second doubles team. I learned to set goals and work tirelessly to achieve them. Playing tennis has also taught me the importance of discipline. The sport requires strict adherence to rules, both on and off the court. I had to learn to control my emotions and stay focused, even when faced with challenges and setbacks. This discipline has translated into other areas of my life, where I apply the same level of focus and determination to my studies and relationships. Tennis has also taught me the value of teamwork. Although tennis is an individual sport, I have learned to rely on my coach and teammates for support and encouragement. I have also learned to communicate effectively with my partner during doubles matches, which has helped me build stronger relationships with those around me. Tennis has given me a sense of community. The sport has brought together people from diverse backgrounds and provided me with a supportive network of friends and mentors. I have met people from all over the world, and these relationships have broadened my perspective and enriched my life in countless ways. In conclusion, tennis has had a profound impact on my life. It has taught me discipline, hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and the value of community. These lessons will stay with me forever and continue to shape me especially as I enter a new stage of life in college. As a senior, I have stepped up and taken a leadership role on the team and hope to have an impact on others. I want to be a role model to the people around me and show them that just because you are faced with challenges does not mean that you should just quit something you enjoy.

I completed a mentorship at a Sport Physical therapy clinic and fell in love with sports medicine. It is a profession where I can combine my love of sports and my desire to become a physical therapist. I hope one day to make a difference in an athlete's life and the world.
