Currently, I am receiving very little financial support for my future education. Like many students in Athens County, I come from a poor family. I have a single mom who works two jobs and two younger siblings who are always in need of something, never doing much around the house. My dad, who is a fully disabled veteran and doesn't offer much financial help, has partial custody of my brother and I, with us only seeing him on the weekends. Although I can assume that my parents and grandparents will be willing to help as much as they can, scholarships and loans are the only way I will truly be able to afford my schooling. I plan on attending a four-year institution, which can be extremely expensive for people like me. I am grateful for opportunities like this as they give us who do not have much, a chance to better our lives in the future. This scholarship will be extremely helpful in covering the costs of my books, housing, and meal plan.
