I have always valued helping others. Nothing can replicate the feeling of knowing that the all things done for your peers can make a positive impact on their lives. Seeing them succeed makes me joyful, and I love to light up their faces with happiness. For example, I have always made an effort to help and support a friend of mine, who has special needs, throughout our high school years. Sometimes that occurs during school, by helping him understand his required assignments, or by helping him adapt to the school environment. Outside of school, I love to plan social activities with him that he enjoys. The amount of joy I get when he is having fun doing what he loves is incredible. I believe that I receive as much benefit as he does from our times together. In addition, as a member of the Bethel Park Marching Band, I was often presented with many opportunities to help others and make them feel included. Some members of the band were more introverted and shy, and it was difficult for them to get involved and hang out with the other members of the band. During band activities, from picnics to football games, I made it a priority to encourage those peers to participate more often. It was my job to make them feel included, so I would invite them to join in games at picnics or encourage socialization at football games. The reward from these simple acts of kindness cannot be measured. Also, as a member of the Bethel Park Tennis Team, I had chances to assist teammates who had less experience than I had. Using my knowledge to help them improve throughout the season and watching them succeed was another rewarding opportunity I had to positively impact others. Supporting and helping others has been extremely rewarding, and I love to do it whenever I get the opportunity to do so. After high school, I would like to study music and continue to help and inspire others, either by becoming a music teacher, or by providing music in hospitals as a music therapist. While all of these examples require making the right choice, I do not believe it is difficult to make the proper decisions. I sincerely value helping others, and it has always been a part of my personality. I would love to continue to make others happy and contribute positively to them for the rest of my life. I believe that being kind and inclusive is something that should come naturally to everyone, because it is one of the best feelings knowing that you impacted others’ lives.
