Bio

I am a high school senior attending Stafford Technical Center for welding and metal fabrication. I have been bullied throughout my life, and I suffer from severe depression. I also suffer from adhd, ocd, and my horrible trauma from being molested at such a young age. But all of these problems will not stop me because I want to become everything and learn everything. I wish to become an even better welder and fabricator. I also want to be an aerospace engineer, an electrical engineer, and an electrician. I just need some help to discover all of these wonderful trades.

My name is Caden Benjamin Joslin. I was born into a world of love and violence; my mom cared for and loved me with all her might. While my biological dad chose to do the opposite. He would call me names, yell at me, tell me he never wanted me, and always make me feel unloved. What was even worse was that we found out a couple of years later that he had another kid who was in a broken household, and we took him in. At first, everything was ok, we were happy, he was happy, everything was going well. But then it started getting bad; he started to do questionable things: he would touch people inappropriately at school. But it wasn’t until he molested me and touched my sister inappropriately that my mom decided to relocate him to a better home. Not long after, my mom divorced my dad. Mom married a man named Gary Samuel, and things were starting to look brighter than ever. I was still suffering from many problems. I have severe depression and have tried to kill myself multiple times. I’ve been to many different mental hospitals throughout my life. I suffer from severe anxiety and a fear of people yelling at me due to my biological dad yelling at me at such a young age. I joined Stafford as a sophomore for engineering, and I loved it. However, it was hard to understand all the material due to my teacher still being new at teaching. I also realized I wanted a more hands-on experience. So I joined the welding and fabrication program for my junior and senior years. I just fell more and more in love with it by the day. During my junior year, I was accepted into the national honor society, where I met people who share the same goals in life as I do. What’s even better is that I applied to Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in Troy, Ohio, and got accepted. But not only do I want to attend Hobart for welding, I want to go and do so much more in my lifetime. I want to go to school to become an electrician, I want to become an electrical engineer, an aerospace engineer, or maybe even become a chemical engineer because of my love for chemistry in my junior year. So, I may struggle every day, and have suffered every day, I still keep going no matter what, because that’s what it’s like to be human. It’s also what made me the person I am today. Without the struggle, I am not sure I would have the strength to accomplish all that I have and all that I strive to become. Through Stafford, I became a better person. I have been volunteering all around Rutland so that I can help my community as much as I can. I have volunteered through Stafford Technical Center to help read to children who are struggling with different learning disorders. Also, through my school, I have been volunteering for three years to help rake leaves for the elderly. But during my own time, I would volunteer at different animal shelters that need help, so that I can spend more time with different animals. I would shovel driveways for my neighbors and for anybody who needed help. I also would volunteer at different nursing homes so that I can help the elderly. I wish to make this world a better place. I think we should work with the world rather than fighting it and using it for selfish desires.

I would be bullied for how I looked and for how quiet I was. It only got worse as I grew up because I would be singled out and be unwanted because I didn't have any friends. That's why I wish to someday open up a program where high schoolers and adults can join to learn all they want in this world. I have heard so many stories about people who had to go into debt for the rest of their lives just to accomplish their dreams. But with all my different career paths that I wish to take, I can truly accomplish my goal and give back to the future generations, so they won't ever have to worry about whether or not they can accomplish their dreams. I wish to have this program go nationwide. Teachers will be paid what they deserve. Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I have loved Sabrina Carpenter before she became a famous singer. I remember seeing her in girls meets world and it was so amazing to see her play such a strong and unique character. But by far my favorite show/ movie she was ever in was the 2018 remake of adventures in babysitting. The movie was so good, but it was even better with Sabrina Carpenters acting skills, it was just pure bliss. She has not only made me believe that I can do anything in this world but she has also made my sister believe she can do anything too. Not to mention that she is just an amazing and beautiful young woman. He careers from being a side character in multiple shows, to being the main character in big movies and shows, and now finally being an amazing singer and going on to win multiple awards is just astonishing. It makes me believe that I can anything in this world as long as I put the work in too. Sabrina Carpenter is not just a fake celebrity who it trying to use her fans to try and get money, but instead wants to create music for the world and to help change the way we think about music.
    Taylor Swift Fan Scholarship
I love Taylor Swift and have been such a fan boy over her at such a young age. I knew I fell in love with her the moment I heard her voice. Of course, my first ever song I ever heard her voice in was shake it off. I know it is very cliche and probably overrated but it truly was my first experience hearing her music. It was catchy, it was iconic, it was hip hoppity, it was just perfect, and ever since then I have just been obsessed with her and her music. I don't have a preference to what is most moving, I think every part of her is moving. The way she can get on the stage and ignore everyone who tries and bring her down, to ignore those who just want to use her, and especially ignore those who just want to take advantage of her. I personally think this album highlights the highs and lows of what it's like to be in the music industry. This album talks about how you have to be perfect and you can't mess up or you'll get cancelled and sunned out of the spotlight by some younger and more attractive looking person. It's very warm touching how she has been through so much and is still going through so much but is still choosing to move on in the music industry.
"The Math Gift" Scholarship for High School Students
Math has been a staple of human development since 3000 B.C. Humanity has been using math for over 5,000 years. The greatest accomplishments using math include the Great Wall of China, the Great Colosseum, and the Great Pyramids of Egypt. All of these amazing landmarks have led archeologists and mathematicians to conclude that a high intensity of math was used in order to create these marvelous structures. Math has only advanced since the dawn of time. We have been able to harness and understand our world through the power of mathematics. Through mathematics, we were able to send the first human to the moon. Through math, we have created such highly advanced technology that we have been able to send to the utmost region of our known solar system. It's just fascinating to me that we have been able to create such highly advanced technology that can withstand the harsh reality of deep space. Not only can math help us get to space, but it also helps us in our everyday lives. The computer that I am using was created using mathematics. It was created using such highly precise tools in order to create all the correct components that were needed just to make this computer. Not only did humanity need math to create a laptop, but they also needed math just to make the tools that are needed to make the computer. Just by walking down the street, everything that was not naturally placed on earth was created by math. The sidewalks you walk on needed math, telephone poles, houses, coffee shops, hotels, buildings, anything you can name were created by using math. By using math, we can live a lot more comfortably rather than having to fight for survival. But instead, we have to fight to keep our roof over our heads by getting a job just to survive. I believe that we need a sense of understanding of our universe, and with math, we can use it to help us understand our world a bit more. With the use of our understanding of our world, we have been able to help those in need. We have been able to connect the whole world by using math. The only problem that remains in our world, and why there are people still suffering, is due to human emotions. But with math, there is no need for any emotions; math can bend, math doesn't understand everything, because it is everything, and it's all it will ever be.

Though I was still suffering with many problems, I have severe depression and tried to kill myself multiple times. I’ve been to many different mental hospitals throughout my life. But also, so that I can create a charity where anyone can come to my workshop and learn anything they want for free. I believe that nobody deserves to lose a arm or a leg just so they can achieve their career dreams. Volunteers would be able to get hands on experience in welding, computers, circuit boards, aerospace, and other useful hands on projects. The projects that we complete can be sold cheaply so that we can not only help our community, but also so that we can fund this charity.
