I went back to college at the age of 62, in the summer of 2019. I completed two Associate Degrees (Business Administration: Project Management and Integrated Studies) from Central New Mexico Community College, and two business-related certificates in Project Management and General Business, by December 2020. I graduated with my Bachelor's in May of 2022, as a Liberal Arts Major, with a minor in Africana Studies, from the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, with honors and a GPA of 4.09. However, this is a bit misleading as I started my education, at the University of Texas, in Austin, in 1975, as a Journalism/Public Relations major but left school to pursue a life in a Christian Musical Ministry in the Spring semester of my junior year (1978). I am now a Masters' student in the Strategic Leadership program of Jakes Divinity School, in partnership with North Central University of Minnesota and I am most interested in continuing my education in this field of study because of all of my life experiences, where I have found myself in a plethora of organizational structures, experiencing the good with the bad and all the shades in between. From my time in the music ministries of my youth, the early retail jobs, the inner workings of several post-high school colleges and universities, a short stint in the armed services (Air Force), two personal failed businesses in New York City and the considerable work I’ve done in over 500 different film and television projects over the last 31 years, I am most interested to learn how to utilize my experiences concerning the inner workings of film/tv business from vision to creation, into a production company of my own. Now, at the age of 66 (July 16), I am open and available to however GOD chooses to use me, with my additional skills, experience, and educational background. If I follow the path of my experiences, it makes sense for me to become a Multi-Media Producer and/or a Motivational/Inspirational Speaker/Leader. Presently I can only speak to the fact that I just wish to feel that I am being used for a divine and personally designed purpose. When I look at the commonality in all my interests, there is a thread of Project Management present in my Strategic Leadership Studies to ensure the success of being an effective Producer, if that becomes my path. It is good that I am getting a second look at this career path, now with the perspective of my life experiences and previous educational forays. I pray a distinctive path forward will emerge as I expect to graduate with honors, presently enjoying a 4.0 GPA as I enter my Capstone portion in my final semester. Now, at the age of 66 (July 16), I am open and available to however GOD chooses to use me, with my additional skills, experience, and educational background. At the age of 66 on 16 July, I’m reflecting on my journey, thus far. I completed on May 14, 2022, my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts/Africana Studies from the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque. I am also the holder of two Associate Degrees from Central New Mexico Community College as of December 2020, in Business Administration / Project Management and Integrated Studies. I obviously achieved all of this in my sixties, during COVID. My degrees are with Honours: The Associates: 3.79 GPA and the Bachelors: 4.09 GPA. While working on the Bachelors, I became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honour Society. My post-high school educational career began back in 1975, on a full academic scholarship to the University of Texas, in Austin, but I abandoned that educational journey to travel with a Christian Musical Ensemble, Festival of Praise, based in Longwood, Florida. It might have not been a wise call, but it truly began a path that brings me here, now, with much life experience and a laser focus, and a contemporary message about the folly of my youth and the second chances of my latter years. I began my Masters of Arts in Strategic Leadership tract in June 2022, chosen because it is a combination of critical thinking and spirit, which is my DNA. I desire to live a life of Balanced Faith as I believe that to be the major deciding factor in issues that plague us as a country. I desire to be a Leader with intelligent spiritual fortitude. With a year left in my studies, I am still open to however God wishes to use my education to his glory. I have much respect for all aspects of Bishop TD Jakes' of Dallas Texas ministry and entrepreneurship and becoming connected via Jakes Divinity School @ North Central University of Minnesota is exactly how I wish my continued education to be in this NEXT Chapter of my life’s journey. If I could change anything about the experience so far, I would have liked to have had some African American instructors and I look forward to the day when the aspect of the Divinity School truly reflects the timbre and tonality of the ministry of the Potter’s House in form and fashion. Perhpas this is where I will 'fit in'. Turning 66 on July 16, 2023, I’m five months away from full-time retirement and I’m in dire need of immediate support as I continue on this journey of my (re)EDUCATION that I began in earnest in 2019. My goals are simple.., to create a new chapter of wisdom, education, and service in these autumn years. To be a disruptor for gentleman my age, who are single and free to do or be whatever their call desires. Too many only minister to the coupled or married man, creating a need for more care and attention to those who are older and single with still a thirst and hunger to lead/serve.
