I want to peruse a career in the nonprofit sector because I have done a lot of volunteering for a nonprofit organization called best buddies and I am really good at fundraising for them but also I have leadership development for them as well. I have always had a positive impact for that organization specifically. I also have been doing communication classes I also want to do a teaching in physical education because I have experience in that by doing and teaching fitness classes at a student but also doing some community outreach too. I have made an impact while i was in high school and I did recycling but also was in key club and an environmental club. I like to volunteer because I have the passionate of volunteering and also care about the people in my community because people and animals can tend to be a litter and it’s not good for them but also birds can easily get sick from the trash. I love to do volunteering around my school as well. I have been on the committee for a group that helps plan events. I believe that I can make an impact by helping others if they are in need like cancer kids. I plan to one of these days get an education on communication because i love communicating with others. The reasons why i care all about the causes that i volunteer for is because I can see the others struggle in a way either with cancer or even with people with idd help. Especially if the other people with cancer kids are in need of help. I do everything I can because of it how much they are similar in a way of helping people in need that actually need it. I would dedicate my time toward the people in need and interact but also help them Out if needed too because I helped out my grandma when she got sick and it was good by cleaning her house but also visited the elderly people in the nursing home. When I was in girls scouts I went to visit a nursing home as well. I love helping people because I am very nice but also I have helped pick up trash around the community near my area because it is really good for the environment to pick up all trash and I don’t want a bird get stuck with trash or raccoons.

Hi my name is Brooklin and I am 20 years old and I love to volunteer around the community. I am really wanting to make the environment and the community a better environment for the earth. I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3 I was in unified pe class too in high school too where I have been dealing with struggles in my life because of my autism. I have accommodations in all of my classes too in all of my classes that I am currently taking. I was in a special education classroom which caused me to get behind in some things. I am currently involved in best buddies as a jobs participant a state ambassador. My own journey with myself as as person with a disability which also caused my self become my self more involved groups such social groups such as ADHD because I have ADHD TOO. I am a friendly person to other people. I am wanting to be a Pe teacher in high school but also want it to be where anyone can be in it also so I may teach regular Pe and unified Pe also too. My relationships with an intellectual disability has influenced my fundraising aspects and that’s why I am in the friendship chapter and hoping to create a best buddies chapter at a school too. I want to be a special education teacher because I want to be able to help teach people with idd how to stay involved in Pe but also making sure that is in inclusive environment for people with idd. I am passionate about helping people that are in the special education department but also hope to be able to help teach people like be a teacher for the unified Pe as well as general education Pe class. Because I have the ability to help people in general and I help people with idd throughout the community called best Buddies. I am currently involved in special Olympics which is a sports team for people with intellectual developmental disabilities where they compete. I am planning on helping with them through math or physical education class because I want my future student to be able to be successful in a way that they can understand the material as well. I want to try new things with the intellectual developmental disabilities community and try stuff like bowling or whatever it takes for them to be able to get help. In my general Ed Pe class I want to also do the same thing but have them be mentors or try new things with everyone because I want everyone to be inclusive and not excluded.

One of my friends taught me a lot that i needed to know how to be a physical education teacher. I currently am a fitness instructor as well. And so since I work at a gym I plan to use my learning skills by coaching sports and doing a mixture of tests and quizzes and hands on learning by exercise and teaching them how to stay fit. When my friend taught me he taught me how to play chess and disc golfing. I have experiences when I taught history lesson on the best buddies experience as well. I have experience in teaching as to well I am a fitness instructor as well where I taught kids and teenagers. Just recently I taught people how to deadlift on social media. And it was popular in a way too. I hope to teach either high school or middle schoolers on how to stay fit and healthy while teaching them what it takes to stay strong and while I teach the class they will be doing the pacer test and while they do sports learning games and instructional games because I want them to be able follow my rules and instructions. I want to be able to coach as well because of the fact that I have an experience in coaching. I coached youth sports as well for a little bit and it was fun. I am going to do some punishments as well like if they don’t listen to me then they will have a warning and if they still don’t they will go to the principal office. I plan on coaching multiple sports such as volleyball and basketball etc. I plan on teaching general education Pe as well as unified Pe because I have experience in unified Pe and general education Pe because I did both general education Pe and unified Pe when I was in high school level and did general education Pe when I was in middle school too. My favorite thing in college Pe was badminton because of the fact that I was a tennis player and i played pickleball in Pe too and it was my favorite game to play and so I am more than likely teach my students to play pickle-ball, badMinton etc. I am also going to have my students do fitness day also once a week and every week. For the unified pe kids they will be going on activities too but they will be going on trips once in a while. While do some activities around the community. I plan to use the experiences to inspire others by teaching my students of what I was taught by my friend who coached me in everything that i needed to know about what it was about being a teacher. I have always had the passion of being a Pe teacher ever since I started high school because I was a sport kid ever since I was in junior high. I love to workout too and ever since I was in high school I just loved taking Pe class when I was in high school because of f the fact that I loved the activities that was in Pe class.

Hi my name is Brooklin Heeren and I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3. I have struggled with school which caused me to get some help with it or not understanding it or get confused easily. I still get picked on to this day because of my disability and I get upset very easily. Because of my disability I am in a program that helps me with a lot of my struggles such as best buddies. Best buddies helps me with my speaking because I am very shy talking to new people. How I plan to use my education to support community is to help around the community and tell my story around the world because I do have a story because I do a lot for because I am also a fundraiser for best buddies but also for special Olympics. I am a friendly person too. I worked with children with young ages of k-2 in high school and now I currently have a job at my ICC where I work with a variety of young people or older people at a gym. Ever since I had a diagnosis of my disability I have had a community of friends that have supported me throughout my activities. My autism affects the way that i learn and the way i communicate gets very confusing too because of my autism. Because of my autism that’s why I am in programs to help me make friends. I am in the penguin project and that helped me out a lot because I made new friends. When I was in high school I was a mentor in the unified Pe class and it made me realize that I am wanting to be a general Ed PE teacher and teach people with disabilities. and I am a current athlete myself. And because of my disability I am state ambassador for best buddies because I tell people my story and I want myself to be heard. For my education I use accommodations in all of my classes because I struggle a lot and had withdrawn from classes. I am an advocate for people with disabilities including myself because I have the passionate and I help them out as much as I can because I was getting picked on one time people stuck for me. So since then I felt like that I could advocate and help people out with disabilities like me and that Is why when it comes to icc I want to start a chapter there and that is why I fundraise for best buddies.

Some of the things I would teach my PE class is pickleball,tennis,bowling,dancing, and badminton, and etc and the fundamentals of all the different types of games along with some tests and running too and having a fitness day one day a week.

Hi my name is Brooklin Heeren I am 19 years old while being a current student at Illinois central college. At the age of 3 I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder so I tend to have some struggles with people and have a hard time understanding different things. I am a very shy person and have a lot of anxiety. With me having autism and all other disorders such as ADHD and anxiety it hasn’t stopped me from doing the stuff I love such as helping others around the community. I currently am involved in special Olympics and best buddies to help me make new friends. I have fundraised over $100,000 for people with idd like me have jobs, one to one friendships, and leadership development. I had a lot of bad stuff happen in my life such as jobs and deaths in my family. There are multiple challenges that I usually face such as the fear of driving and sensory and failing my classes in college and making friendships. And a struggle overall. My life has also impacted the way I learn from other people and the way I manage my behavior like it’s so hard for me to manage my behavior. I have had people who picked on me in the past and current. I hate heights and I have trouble sleeping and have a hard time running. My best friend from high school recently passed back in February and I was sad for days and that was because he was technically the only friend that I had because he would help me a lot with my problems. I never get to hang out with any of my friends because nobody Really wants to be my friend and I always get upset easily.

I have fundraised for $60,000 to help people with intellectual disabilities find jobs, leadership development, and one to one friendships. I helped with my family when my grandparents all got sick and died and I would help them out in a way. I am most passionate about tennis and soccer and bowling because I used to play them. I got recruited in tennis and bowling for the division 3 level and which is the highest rank and which would be a higher varsity level. I am really excited to play in college because that has been my goal along with being a physical education teacher working out and teaching middle school or high school while currently being in the jobs program at best buddies and glad that I am still able to continue best buddies as well. I like those things because it makes me happy and I love to play sports around the community and I am passionate about doubles in tennis but I can do both in tennis I technically am good at tennis and I have played tennis for 3 years of and planning to play tennis at Elmhurst University for my junior year and senior year of college. I currently attend Illinois central college and working on my associates in physical education and coaching while hoping to play volleyball basketball and softball and I have also found new clubs to join as well at Illinois Central College. My current goals is to play softball and basketball and volleyball at ICC as well. Currently I am the softball manager I do a lot of volunteering around the community and have been in clubs where I volunteer a lot throughout my high school/ college career. I am kind to people around the community as well. I want to be able to inspire other people as well how good it is to volunteer around the community. I am really wanting to make the environment and the community a better environment for the earth. Caregiving has supported me by having me realize how much I care about people who are struggling in a way that the ways I do to support is be there for and ask them how can I help them. I would also be there for them. Caregiving has shaped me to help more people out for people who need it. Caregiving made me realize about how I should be a pe teacher and have a job that is also a caregiver. The scholarship matters because it help me for when I transfer to Elmhurst university in Chicago and it will also help me when I get my teaching degree.

In the future I want to coach a special Olympics team because I am a special Olympic athlete as well as fundraise for them as I do the polar plunge for special Olympics athletes like me to be able to support the special Olympics athletes and to have more inclusive to the community as well. After I graduate from college my plan is to teach physical education and hopefully to teach regular Physical Education and a unified Physical education class. I want to be to teach people with disabilities along with people with disabilities to play sports on a team. I want to be able to coach multiple sports where I can be inclusive where I can have people with or without disabilities be on a sports team.

I like those things because it makes me happy and I love to run and I am passionate about doubles in tennis but I can do both in tennis I technically am good at tennis and I have played tennis for 3 years of and planning to play tennis at Elmhurst University for my junior year and senior year of college. I currently attend Illinois central college and working on my associates in physical education and coaching while hoping to play volleyball basketball and softball and I have also found new clubs to join as well at Illinois Central College. I am the oldest of one sibling and I have two parents as well. My current goals is to play softball and basketball and volleyball at ICC as well. Currently I am the softball and basketball manager too. I have been the most athletic throughout my school and since I was in junior high well such as Cross Country and track. I graduated from high school in May of 2024 from East Peoria Community High School as a senior. My Senior year of high school I did girls soccer, disc golfing , and tennis. My freshman year I was the volleyball manager and did soccer also being in tennis also was the basketball manager and did girls soccer as well. My future plans is to be a physical education teacher and hoping to become a fitness instructor while coaching different sports. I have so many experiences in teaching and coaching where I used to coach little league soccer for the younger kids as well. I currently do a lot of sports in the Special Olympics as well such as volleyball. I am hoping to play softball basketball and bowling as well.

My drive to becoming a teacher is that I have worked with kids before and I like to help them. I have taught the kids at church before too I have been a counselor to k through 2 and 1st grade but my plans are to teach a middle school or high school physical education teacher. I am very active in sports and I have taught fitness classes for a gym. I have taught fitness classes that had kids in it too. I have the passion to being a teacher I love to teach Physical education. My ambition is to help the middle school kids get better but to help them with their homework. When it comes to teaching I have the drive to teach in Chicago il or somewhere near Chicago il. I am very happy to teach junior high but I do tend to be strict because of their bad behavior. I am going to also going to coach sports as well alongside being a fitness teacher. Someday I am going to start a best buddies chapter there too at the same school I teach at. Not only I want my teaching to be successful but I want my future teaching to become successful too because if it isn’t successful then I might get fired from teaching and I really don’t want that. I am going to be teaching the kids different units and they will do some lifting and want to get them active and not sit around too. I really want to make sure they will be successful at physical education. I want to make them become an athlete and teach them different sports that they don’t know how to play like tennis. My goal is to have them take a test one time per unit so for most units but some units depend on how long we go with that unit. They will be changing into physical education clothes. I will be the best that I can be at teaching the kids and make sure that they can be the best students ever when I teach at school or at a gym too. I will help the kids and read it and I will be the teacher to help them clarify if they don’t know that word and I will teach them that word if they don’t understand that word. It really makes me happy when I teach the kid and I do have passion, ambition and drive the teaching to a middle school that need physical education teachers. I have the inspiration of being a teacher just because of how I am nice to kids and children and I love and have taught a history class and made them do notes and was very strict. I have the inspiration of teaching physical education and to teach kids for sports and different clubs. I am very passionate toward other people and very passionate when it comes to making people to do theirs and if they don’t I will fail them and give them an f. When it comes to teaching I am very experienced and I have background when it comes to being a physical education teacher and any type of teaching and I have also played sports too in high school and junior and I want to be able to leave an example for my future students as well and be able to help them out and I will be nice to them and help them out the best I can and I want to take the step of being a great teacher.

I have learned to swing through my swings and get ready for the next match and this has shaped my future because I got recruited for a tennis team in college division 3 which is the highest varsity team. I did get better and improve all my three years in tennis by winning and getting better at doubles and had some close matches. There was a couple of matches and tournaments where I had tie breakers too. I basically practiced and practice and improved throughout the season. I had 4th place in some tournaments and even though our season was weird and didn’t have any home matches I still improved even though we had no home matches and all away matches and tournaments I still did good and was almost close to medaling for third. I have a pretty close sectional match with Peoria and that was a close tie breaker match. I have pretty good backhand but forehand is a huge struggle. I kept on somewhat getting better at my forehand. In doubles I am pretty good at the backhand side and pretty good at the net too. I have had a couple of good rallies and good at hitting it back and forth between me and the other opponent rather it was doubles or singles. Since my sophomore I knew I would like tennis and have the passion for it since my sophomore year. This year was meaningful to me because I was a senior and it was my last year I wanted to play throughout my senior year. I had played two years of varsity and one year of junior varsity. It started out really rough then got better when the season went on it went really good. I use some strategies to help me with my matches. For singles my strategy was to get ready and get on my toes instead of just standing there and hitting the ball late. For doubles my strategy was to communicate with my doubles partner and help them out a little bit. I have witnessed some competition in me just to try my best at matches and improve and just to learn what my skills were and what my job was to work on throughout the season. Some of the matches I fought off some pain in me and my feet were in pain too but any pain and even though my other opponent that were mean I still wanted to show my teammates that I can do it even though I had some bad matches.
