I am passionate about pursuing an education in STEM because it allows me to combine my love of learning with my desire to help others. STEM fields play a major role in solving some of the world’s biggest challenges, from improving healthcare to developing new technologies that make everyday life better. I am especially interested in biology because I am fascinated by how the human body works and how science can be used to improve people’s health and quality of life. Pursuing a STEM education will give me the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact in my community and beyond. One of my goals is to attend college and major in biology before pursuing a career in healthcare. I want to work in a field where I can directly help people and make a difference in their lives. Healthcare professionals have the opportunity to support individuals during difficult times, and I admire the dedication and compassion they show every day. By studying STEM, I can gain the scientific knowledge necessary to contribute to this important work and help improve the lives of others. Another reason I am passionate about STEM is that it encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. STEM is not only about memorizing facts, it is about asking questions, finding solutions, and discovering new ways to overcome challenges. I enjoy learning how different systems work and applying what I learn to real world situations. The skills developed through STEM education are valuable in every aspect of life and can help create positive change in society. As a minority student, I also understand the importance of representation in STEM careers. Many students may not see people from backgrounds similar to their own working in science, medicine, or technology. I hope to be part of a new generation of STEM professionals who inspire younger students to believe in themselves and pursue their goals. I want others to know that their background does not define their future and that they can succeed with hard work, determination, and support. Receiving this scholarship would help me continue my education and move closer to achieving my career goals. I am committed to working hard, expanding my knowledge, and using my education to help others. Through STEM, I hope to contribute to advancements in healthcare, support my community, and inspire future generations of students. My passion for science and helping people motivates me every day, and I am excited to continue pursuing a future where I can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

If I had the money and resources, I would create a program dedicated to helping minority students gain access to educational opportunities, mentorship, and financial support. Many students have the talent, determination, and potential to succeed, but they often face barriers such as limited resources, lack of guidance, and financial challenges. My goal would be to create a program that helps students overcome those obstacles and gives them the tools they need to achieve their dreams. The program would provide free tutoring, college and scholarship application assistance, career exploration opportunities, and mentorship from professionals and college students. It would also offer workshops on financial literacy, study skills, leadership development, and career planning. By connecting students with mentors who have faced similar challenges, participants would have positive role models who can guide and encourage them throughout their educational journey. These mentors would help students set goals, stay motivated, and build confidence in their abilities. This idea is especially meaningful to me because I have often wished that a program like this existed for students like myself. Having access to experienced mentors, educational resources, and financial guidance can make a huge difference in a student’s confidence and ability to succeed. Sometimes students do not need someone to do the work for them, they simply need someone to show them what opportunities are available and help them believe they are capable of reaching their goals. I know that having that kind of support can change a person’s future and open doors that may have once seemed impossible to reach. Another important part of my program would be creating a supportive community where students can connect with one another and share their experiences. Many minority students may feel alone when facing academic or financial challenges. Through group meetings, workshops, and community events, students would be able to build friendships, learn from each other, and develop valuable networking skills. I would also invite successful professionals from diverse backgrounds to share their stories and offer advice. Hearing real stories of perseverance and achievement can inspire students to believe that their own goals are possible. If I had unlimited resources, I would partner with schools, colleges, businesses, and community organizations to expand the program and reach as many students as possible. Scholarships would be available to help students pay for college, trade school, books, and other educational expenses. The program would also provide internships and job-shadowing opportunities so students could gain real world experience and learn about different career paths. I believe education is one of the most powerful tools for creating positive change. When students are given the support and opportunities they deserve, they can accomplish incredible things. By investing in minority students, we are not only helping individuals succeed but also strengthening families, communities, and future generations. My goal would be to create a program that inspires students to believe in themselves, pursue their ambitions, and build a brighter future. Through mentorship, education, and opportunity, I hope to help ensure that every student has a fair chance to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Everett Frank Memorial Just Live Scholarship
Growing up in a low-income, first-generation household has shaped who I am in ways I did not fully understand until I got older. As an African American student, I often faced challenges that went beyond academics, including limited resources, financial stress, and the pressure of being the first in my family to navigate the path toward higher education. One of the most significant obstacles I faced was learning how to stay motivated and hopeful when the future felt uncertain. There were moments when balancing school, family responsibilities, and personal goals felt overwhelming. I sometimes had to help at home or manage responsibilities that made it difficult to focus fully on schoolwork. Instead of allowing frustration to turn into bitterness, I chose to show up with resilience and determination. I reminded myself that my situation did not define my potential. I stayed committed to my education, even when it meant working harder with fewer resources than others around me. During this time, I learned to extend kindness not only to others but also to myself. I encouraged classmates when they were struggling, shared notes, and supported friends who felt discouraged, even when I was dealing with my own challenges. I realized that kindness does not come from having extra time or resources, but from choosing empathy and understanding. Showing up wholeheartedly meant giving my best effort, even on days when my best felt limited. The impact of these choices was meaningful both personally and beyond myself. I developed a strong sense of perseverance and confidence, learning that obstacles can become sources of strength rather than limitations. Supporting others helped me build deeper connections and reminded me that resilience is often stronger when shared. These experiences strengthened my desire to pursue biology, as I want a career where I can help others and make a positive difference through science and healthcare. Facing these challenges taught me that resilience is not about never struggling, but about continuing forward with purpose and compassion. I learned to approach difficulties with determination while remaining grounded in kindness and wholehearted effort. These lessons continue to guide me as I work toward my goals and prepare for college. Everett Frank’s story reminds me that living with resilience and kindness, even in a short time, can leave a lasting impact. I strive to carry these values with me as I move forward, using my experiences to uplift others and build a future rooted in perseverance, empathy, and hope.
