Bio

My name is Brooke Clark and I am extremely interested in aviation. I want to become a pilot more than anything else. I balance my current Private Pilot License training with being enrolled in several Advanced Placement classes (college level classes), belonging to a number of leadership clubs, maintaining a 4.3 GPA, being in the top 10% of my class, and being a part of National Honor Society, which allows me to serve my community by committing to 20+ hours of community service every year. All this while being my high school's only four sport athlete (male or female). I also have two jobs to have a flow of income, but unfortunately, it never seems to be enough to fuel my flight training. Any bit of financial aid would help to fuel my journey to becoming a pilot.

As a young girl aspiring to break into the world of aviation, winning a scholarship to support my private pilot license journey is a pivotal stepping stone in my pursuit of a lifelong dream—one that has strong familial roots in aviation. Aviation runs deep in my family's bloodline. My grandpa, who is my biggest inspiration, was a fighter pilot and instilled a passion for aviation in me from an early age. My brother is an Air Force ROTC cadet hoping for an eventual career as a pilot, and I have two uncles who are air traffic controllers. The stories shared over family dinners have always had me dreaming that someday, I’d have something to contribute to that conversation. Although the passion for aviation has deep roots in my family, I am the first female in my family to embark on this path. The aviation industry as a whole remains predominantly male, presenting a unique set of challenges for aspiring female pilots like myself. Yet, it is precisely this gender disparity that fuels my determination to succeed. Pursuing aviation requires a strong academic foundation which I’ve demonstrated by being enrolled in several Advanced Placement classes (college level classes), belonging to a number of leadership clubs, maintaining a 4.3 GPA, being in the top 10% of my class, and being a part of National Honor Society, which allows me to serve my community by committing to 20+ hours of community service every year. All this while being my high school's only four sport athlete (male or female). Aviation is expensive, so I also have two jobs that never seem to be enough to fuel money into my flight training. Through these commitments, I have learned the value of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. These qualities translate into the world of aviation, where precision, clear communication, and the ability to remain composed under pressure, are extremely important. During high school, I have played 2 sports every season, but my greatest athletic love is soccer—where I am our team captain and compete in club year round. My experiences as a multi-sport athlete while maintaining a high GPA have prepared me to excel in the demanding physical and mental aspects of flight training, while multi-tasking and learning how to manage time efficiently and become a strong, efficient leader that can make split-second decisions. Winning this scholarship will help to alleviate the financial constraints that are currently holding me back. I have obtained my 1st class medical certificate and started my the journey to obtaining my PPL, but the costs associated with flight training are my biggest hindrance. After earning My PPL, I plan to continue down the aviation path and continue to obtaining more ratings. Earning a scholarship to help fund my PPL will not only provide financial support but will also serve as a testament to the idea that women can excel in any field they choose, even those traditionally dominated by men. With an ancestry deeply rooted in aviation, my journey represents a historic shift for my family, defying gender barriers to embrace a traditionally male-dominated field. My academic achievements, athletic background, and family legacy have equipped me with the skills and resilience necessary to excel in aviation. My goal is not only to achieve my dream of becoming a pilot, but also to inspire the younger females in my family and future generations of women to soar high, unapologetically pursuing their passions in any field they choose and to know that I can join my family of boys at the table and be accepted for the knowledge and leadership that I hold.

When I flew for the first time I knew that becoming a pilot would become the leading intention for my life. Being in the air is where I’m meant to be. Before I took my discovery flight, I was lost. Many of my friends knew what career field they wanted to enter, but I didn’t have a single inkling. I have realized that my passion is in the sky. I feel my stress alleviated when I’m flying and I feel free. Flying just clicks for me. Winning this scholarship will help alleviate the financial constraints that are currently holding me back.
