WinnerAs a kid have you ever found yourself sitting there thinking what is my dream job? The one job that would give you that feeling of passion and purpose in life. That one job you know you were destined to pursue. For me that one job was being a firefighter, the typical saving cats from trees and putting out fires. As I have grown up my dreams about becoming a firefighter have become so much more attainable. Along with that my mindset about firefighting has changed too. Firefighting is so much more than just the stereotypical saving cats from trees and putting out fires. Firefighting is about saving people's lives, lessening the negative impacts fires have on communities, and preserving the environment. Firefighters have to have teamwork to facilitate at the highest level with great success. They face extreme and dangerous situations that put their lives at risk. All these factors motivate me to become what I have always wanted to become. I love the physical and mental challenges firefighting offers even if that means risking my life to save someone else's. The constant grind that firefighting demands is right up my alley, I am always on the move seeking another challenge to conquer and educate me. I want to be the person to offer comfort during stressful and traumatic situations. The thought of helping families during hardship motivates me to be a better person in life offering all I can possibly offer to ensure a healthy recovery. The adrenaline rush is another key factor that motivates me because you never know what kind of situation you'll face that day. Firefighting is so much more than putting out flames. It is about preserving the life of our planet, and providing a sense of comfort for people and communities during hard times. I demonstrate compassion in my daily life through my actions and willingness to help others when a difficult situation presents itself. I take pride in everything I do and will give my all no matter the task at hand. Bravery by voicing my opinion when something isn't right and stepping into uncomfortable situations to provide help for others. My selflessness comes from putting others over myself, I've been very active in my church helping food drives and donating blood to help others without expecting anything in return. All of my characteristics will help me further my career in firefighting because I can build trust with my compassion, bravery allows me to perform well under high pressure and provide care for others, and selflessness allows me to have a sense of purpose in my job providing for others above everything else. I hope to make a lasting impact on communities and the environment, so that people feel safe knowing people like myself are always there to help reinforcing and providing stability in the communities. I plan to grow by training and furthering my education along with learning from experience and self-reflecting upon my actions.
