"I am a mother of three children, and they are the reason why I strive so hard to achieve academic success. I strongly believe in completing a higher level of education and I instill these values and beliefs into my children. I learned throughout my own upbringing that children are visual learners, so one must lead by example, and that's what I strive to do by pursuing my education as I would want them to. My efforts have paid off, as my children often talk about attending college and pursuing careers that they want to pursue. My oldest son, much like his mom, wants to go into the health sciences. I have been in the healthcare industry for about 17 years, and I share my experiences with him, including the pros and cons of pursuing a degree and a career within the healthcare industry. He told me that watching me make a difference in people's lives working as a CNA is what inspired him to be a part of an industry that makes a big difference in people's lives, no matter how big or small the role is. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, I worked on a med-surg floor while pregnant with my third child. I was also finishing up my graduate degree in business. During this time, my faith was tested many times; I was stressed from the consistent changes of safety measures at the bedside, and all the healthcare workers that lost their lives while serving the sick and shut-in. I was not only worried about my own life but also the life of my two boys and my unborn daughter, all while pursuing my graduate degree in business. To make a long story short, God pulled me through, as well as my children. I completed my master's in business and conferred the same month that I gave birth to a healthy baby girl (Jan 2021). My children have always given me the strength and the courage to seek out my dreams of furthering my education. I want to exemplify to them that hard work, strength, courage, and consistency will take you far in life. My children made me accountable for my actions, and they made me aware of what it means to strive for success in the name of love in every aspect of life, including my education." I am truly grateful for my children for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is that they made better.
