Bio

Hello, my name is Brithza Arreola. I am a junior at Clifton High School. I aspire to study Business Administration and Accounting while also attending a trade school for construction. My ultimate goal is to launch a thriving business that will give financial assistance to individuals who may not have the resources to pursue higher education. I am deeply passionate about my faith in Jesus and strive to demonstrate love and compassion to everyone I encounter. My engagement with the NHS and my role as an officer for FCCLA have enhanced my commitment to assisting those who face financial or emotional challenges. In addition, I have a deep passion for math, which has driven me to compete in UIL for mathematics. Math challenges me to think critically and solve problems, skills that will serve me well in both my business and construction pursuits. Additionally, I am passionate about basketball. This sport has taught me leadership, teamwork, and discipline—lessons I carry with me in all aspects of my life. Lastly, I am very passionate about learning different languages and cultures, which will benefit me in my aspirations of traveling in the future. As of now, I'm fluent in English and Spanish and currently learning German. I consider myself a strong candidate due to my work ethic, commitment to continuous learning, and openness to growth through my mistakes. I approach every task with determination and the perseverance to see it through, whether I'm excelling in my studies, leading a project in my business class, or contributing to my community.

    Nabi Nicole Grant Memorial Scholarship
The night before my final UIL Mathematics competition, I sat at my desk, overwhelmed by anxiety. My mind wandered to fears and uncertainty-what if I failed? What if all my preparation wasn't enough? I tried to silence the doubts by pushing myself harder, reviewing formulas and solving problems late into the night. I thought I was relying on God, but in truth, I was relying on my own willpower, convinced that if I just worked harder, I could control the outcome. Throughout my life, my leaders had reminded me to trust in God's plant, to lean on Him in times of struggle. Their words were true and good, but at the time, I didn't fully understand what they meant. I believed faith was about asking for strength when I needed it and then moving forward on my own. But faith is more than an emergency crutch-it is a lifestyle, a daily habit of surrendering fears and trusting in God's sovereignty. That night, I realized I needed to change how I approached challenges. Instead of wrestling with my fears alone, I turned to prayer. I asked God not just for success, but for peace, for the ability to trust in Him no matter the outcome. As I prayed, I felt a calmness settle over me. I was reminded of Isaiah 41:10: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." For the first time, I truly understood that I was not alone-God was with me. From that moment on, I began incorporating habits of faith into my daily life. I developed heart habits-practicing gratitude and surrendering my worries in prayer. I adopted physical habits-waking up earlier to spend quiet time with God. I worked on mind habits-choosing to replace negative thoughts with Scripture and truth. And I cultivated communal habits-leaning on my faith community for support and encouragement. The next day, I walked into my competition room with a sense of peace I had never experienced before. I still felt the pressure of competition, but I no longer carried it alone. My performance that day was strong, but more importantly, I had learned a lesson far greater than any math problem could teach me: through faith in Christ, we can know God personally. His Spirit empowers and encourages us, providing a counselor, comforter, and advocate in our moments of struggle. I no longer rely solely on my own strength to face challenges. Instead, I turn to God, knowing that He walks with me through every trial. Faith is not about willing myself to be stronger-it's about surrendering and allowing God to be my strength. That understanding has changed my life forever.
    Learner Math Lover Scholarship
I love math because it's like a puzzle-there's always a solution waiting to be discovered. It provides a sense of structure and certainty in a world that can often feel unpredictable. Math is both logical and creative, allowing for multiple ways to approach a problem while still following clear rules. It challenges me to think critically, analyze patterns, and develop problem-solving strategies that extend beyond the classroom. One of the most fascinating aspects of math is how it connects to everything. It's in the symmetry of nature, the algorithms behind technology, and the patterns in music. It helps us make sense of the universe, from predicting weather patterns to understanding the vastness of space. Whether it's designing buildings or analyzing economic trends, math plays an essential role in shaping the world around us. Even in fields like medicine, math is crucial for modeling disease spread, calculating dosages, and advancing medical imaging techniques. It's incredible to see how numbers and equations contribute to life-changing innovations. Math is also present in sports, like tennis. Tennis relies on angles, velocity, and spin to control shots effectively. Understanding the geometry behind a perfect serve or the physics of ball trajectory helps players improve their accuracy and strategy. This connection between math like geometry and physical movement fascinates me, showing that math isn't just theoretical-it's part of real-life action. Beyond my personal love for math, I'm also proud to be part of my school's UIL Mathematics team. Competing in UIL has strengthened my problem-solving skills, challenged me to think quickly, and given me the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers who share my enthusiasm for numbers. Preparing for competitions pushes me to explore advanced mathematical concepts and sharpen my analytical abilities, further deepening my appreciation for the subject. Most of all, I love the satisfaction of solving a tough problem. That "aha" moment when everything clicks is one of the best feelings. Math teaches persistence, resilience, and logical thinking-skills that are valuable in all aspects of life. Whether I'm competing in UIL, analyzing data, or strategizing on the tennis court, math plays a crucial role in everything I do. I'm excited to continue exploring its limitless possibilities and applying my love for math to future challenges. No matter where my path leads, I know that math will always be a guiding force, helping me navigate the world with logic, curiosity, and a sense of wonder.
    Nickels Student Athlete Scholarship
As a student-athlete involved in basketball, tennis, and track and field, I've faced several challenges throughout high school, but each one has taught me valuable lessons that extend far beyond the playing field. One of the most significant challenges I face is managing my time effectively. As a student-athlete in advanced classes, I often find myself juggling difficult assignments, projects, and exams while maintaining my commitment to practices and competitions. For instance, during basketball season, I frequently have late-night games and practices that conflict with assignments. There have been times when I've had to study on the bus to an away game or finish a paper after a track meet. Balancing both my academic and athletic responsibilities requires serious time management skills, Sports are a great way to stay healthy, build discipline, and learn how to embrace healthy competition. Physical and mental exhaustion is another challenge that comes with being a student-athlete. The physical demands of playing three sports can be overwhelming, especially during the overlap of seasons. Track and field, for example, requires intense training and focus, while basketball involves high-energy practices and games. In tennis, long practices and matches can take a toll on my body. These activities require me to push through fatigue, and I've learned to manage my energy, ensuring that I'm well-rested and properly fed for both practices and school. At times, I've had to remind myself to slow down and recover, as pushing myself too hard without rest would ultimately hinder my performance in both school and sports. The pressure to perform is another challenge that can be difficult to navigate. Whether it's a basketball game or a tennis match that could decide the season, the pressure to win can feel overwhelming. At times, the fear of not living up to expectations has created stress, especially when trying to balance the expectations of my coaches, teammates, and family with the pressure of succeeding in the classroom. However, these experiences have taught me the importance of resilience and perseverance. I've learned to embrace setbacks and use them as opportunities to grow. A loss on the court or not achieving a personal best in track doesn't define me - it motivates me to work harder and come back stronger. Despite these challenges, being a student-athlete has taught me many valuable lessons. Most importantly, I've learned the importance of teamwork. In basketball, success depends on how well the team works together, supporting one another and striving toward a common goal. In tennis, though it's more individual, I've learned the importance of being part of a team and offering support to my teammates. Track and field also require a strong sense of camaraderie, especially in relay races, where each runner relies on the others for success. These experiences have taught me how to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and trust in the abilities of others. I've also learned the importance of discipline and hard work. Balancing sports with advanced classes has taught me how to stay disciplined in all areas of my life. Success in sports doesn't come without consistent effort, and the same goes for academics. Whether it's the dedication I've put into learning new basketball plays, refining my tennis technique, or pushing my limits in track, I've learned that hard work and consistency pay off in all areas of life. In conclusion, being a student-athlete in basketball, tennis, and track and field has taught me many lessons, including time management, resilience, teamwork, and the importance of discipline. Balancing sports with advanced classes has made me stronger, more focused, and better prepared for the future.
    Rod Tucci Memorial Scholarship
My name is Brithza Arreola, and I have always been passionate about helping others, a passion that has been deeply shaped by my faith in Jesus. I believe that a meaningful life is one that serves others, and I am committed to using my skills and resources to make a positive difference in the world. This passion has led me to pursue a career in the building trades, specifically in Building Construction Technology at TSTC. I see this as a way to combine my love for Jesus with my desire to serve others by using my hands and talents to improve the lives of those in need. Throughout my life, I've always sought out opportunities to volunteer and give back, whether it's helping in my community or donating whenever I'm able. I believe that no act of kindness is too small, and that we all have a role in making the world a better place. As a member of National Honor Society (NHS), I've been involved in service projects that directly support local communities. Whether it's organizing food drives, volunteering at local shelters, or participating in educational outreach, I've seen how even small efforts can make a significant difference in the lives of those around us. NHS has taught me the importance of leadership, integrity, and responsibility, values I plan to carry with me throughout my career. Similarly, my involvement in FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) has strengthened my commitment to serving others. FCCLA has given me the opportunity to collaborate with peers on projects that address real-world challenges, such as promoting healthy lifestyles, supporting families, and improving community involvement. Through FCCLA, I've learned the importance of teamwork, communication, and advocating for those who may not have a voice. These skills are crucial in my pursuit of a career where I can contribute to creating positive change, both on a personal and community-wide level. My goal is to continue this mindset throughout my career by not only working in construction but also by creating a nonprofit organization focus on donating to those in need. This organization would provide resources, services, and assistance to individuals and communities facing hardships. By combining my education in building construction technology with my passion for helping others, I plan to build homes for families in need, provide financial assistance to underserved communities, and offer volunteer support to improve the well-being of those who need it most. I want to ensure that my work reflects my commitment to serving others, and I hope to inspire others to do the same. In the future, I plan to combine my education with my faith to create lasting change. Whether through construction projects, volunteer opportunities, or advocating for resources, my goal is to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most. I believe that my career in the building trades will not only allow me to improve communities physically but also provide a foundation for helping others on a deeper level.
