Bio

Hi! I’m a high school graduate working to become a 2D animator. I’m trying my best to look for scholarships and hope to be ready for college soon! Not long ago, I knew nothing about college or scholarships, but with Bold.org, I’ve learned just how many opportunities there are online and resources also so easy to access. I’ve also applied to North Lake Community College for Fall 2021! After Community College, I’m looking to study fine/ visual arts at a university in Texas and The University of Texas at Austin is my dream school! I’ve always loved the idea of being able to animate a show and see what hard work can accomplish. I’m invariably trying my best to be the best artist I can be while consistently learning from others and myself. I want to be a 2D animator to create shows that inspire and motivate people to tackle different aspects of life and to help people with whatever they’re going through, no matter what it be. My dream is to go to an art school without graduating with more debt than I can ever pay off. Covid-19 impacted my family hard since it made my mom lose her job at the company she was working with for three years and took a part-time while looking for another full-time job. We had to cut down on our spending to save up for extra food in case, which made me more focused while scouting for scholarships. Despite the pandemic and school stress, I am trying my best to focus on college!

    Ocho Cares Artistry Scholarship
Hello! My name is Brianna Chacon, and I will be attending North Lake Community College in the fall of 2021. I will then transfer to a four-year university pursuing an art major. Thank you for taking the time to read my submission. Do you watch cartoons or any animated series and realize how much you love watching them? I have always been fascinated by how they're able to capture your attention while showing you meaningful life lessons. Sometimes you fail to realize how these works of art captured your heart because the next thing you know you are sobbing on a character's happy ending. I want to be the person behind that magic that inspires so many people. I want to work hard and work on an animated show for everyone to watch and maybe even animate my show one day! Numerous people turn away from becoming an animator since they realize the massive amounts of effort that comes with meeting a deadline or having to be able to create new things every day. I've realized long ago the effort that must be put in to become someone who animates, and even if I am pushed to my limit, I'll think back to why I became an animator in the first place. I want people to grow up with my work, find my work to watch out of nowhere, become attached to the characters, and realize just how much a show can change their lives just by watching. This scholarship can help me reach my dream of changing people's lives in the entertainment industry. I want this award to inspire more people to realize the efforts behind the animation are worth so much more than they realize, and remember their favorite show will always be in their hearts. My experiences as a Hispanic have shown me that minorities are truly being taken advantage of by being underpaid and looked over because they refuse to admire the creativity and beauty we are and that we create. I have seen how my Hispanic parents, both born in Mexico, have endured and suffered just to arrive here and settle down, I want this award to showcase how even a minority artist like me can change the world and that college is the right place for me. Not only are Hispanics uncommon in the animation industry, but it has been rare that I ever discover Hispanic women recognized for their achievements in the entertainment industry. I've been drawing since I was a child from what I can remember, and even my parents can tell you about how I would never stop being creative or never stop drawing on the walls. I'll never stop creating, even if I have hardships to face and loans to pay, there's nothing in this world that can stop me from reaching my goals. I can feel my heartbeat out of my chest with excitement as I write this essay. I'm going to give the world my all and hope to make my family and myself proud. Knowing I'll be able to create art at the end of the day feeds my soul and mind as I remember "what drives my passion for art." Thank you for taking the time to consider my submission.

    Justricia Scholarship for Education
Hello, my name is Brianna Chacon, and I'm a high school senior at Dubiski Career High School. Thank you for taking the time to read my scholarship application. "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." A famous quote by activist Malcolm X sparked a light into my mind about education. My mother and father have always pushed the idea of pursuing further education to get a good job and have enough money to never starve, but growing up, I've realized education is more than just making money. Education is the foundation of life, for those without it are always aiming for a better life. Do you watch cartoons or any animated series and realize how much you cherish watching them? I've always been fascinated by how they're able to capture your attention while showing you memorable life lessons. Sometimes you don't realize how they've captured your heart because the next thing you know, you're sobbing on a character's happy ending. I want to be the person behind that magic that inspires so many people. I want to work hard and work on an animated show for everyone to watch and maybe even animate my animated show one day! Numerous people turn away from becoming an animator since they realize the massive amounts of effort that comes with making a deadline or having to be able to devise new things every day. I've realized ages ago the power that must be invested to become someone who animates, and even if I'm forced to my creative limit, I'll reminisce as to why I became an animator in the first place. I want society to blossom with my work, find my passion spontaneously out of nowhere, become attached to the characters, and realize just how much a show can transform their lives just by watching. This scholarship can help me reach my dream of changing people's lives in the entertainment industry. I want this award to inspire more people to realize the efforts behind the animation is worth so much more than they can manifest, and remember their beloved show will always be in their hearts. All of my dreams displayed above can be achieved by simply focusing on my education. I can agree with the belief some people have of college not being for everyone, but with this said I would argue that a college is a place everyone should at least strive for. Further education is an achievement that acts as a professional resume for your job applications. Education can give someone the chance to discover who they are and even make new relationships with peers. Thank you again for taking the time to read my application, and I wish the best to all applicants.

When I was in middle school, I started learning about all the indie games and youtubers that were beginning to become popular. It was one of the happiest times in my life knowing I had so many interests such as discovering my passion for art and loving all these other games to inspire me. But, as we go through middle school things start to change starting with your friends. Sometimes you make some new ones and you’ll lose a few too because we’re all changing around this time learning things can’t be perfect in every aspect. Not even the popular girls at your school will like you which really impacts you. Because of that, I was starting to learn that the games I liked and the art I drew was considered “weird” and “shy girl” like. I never knew I could be outcasted for liking anything at that point in my life. So, I started to hide what I liked as a kid and I started hiding what I really cared about because I couldn’t learn to love my self if the people around me didn’t right? And as I grew up I started to lose my confidence, started taking less risks and chances, and most of all I was starting to hate myself for not being like the other kids. Being exposed to all of this negative energy and social interactions can really harm your self esteem and make you start to feel like you’re never going to be or feel accepted. This was the case, until I realized if the people around me won’t accept me then I have to accept me for myself and who I am. I began realizing if I don’t start loving myself I’ll never get anything I wanted to in life done. So I took the leap and starting worrying about my self only, I didn’t care about others or what they were doing, and it was like this up until the beginning of high school. Although something changed when I entered high school, I started to notice, “There’s other people who like what I like?”, “It wasn’t just me in this whole school who liked to draw or like the geek stuff that I knew?”. I realized I couldn’t get through this world just by myself I was going to make friends without even realizing it and that’s exactly what happened. It felt so natural to me yet so new to have those who love you for who you are and yes, it’s hard to think they’ll be anyone who’ll love you after what you’ve experienced. Though, the changes that occur you’ll sometimes barely noticed how they’ve snuck in your life for the better. My self love for myself, I’ve learned will only grow the more I experience in life. I’m learning that I’m going to love me, my body, and my mind for how far they’ve brought me to realize I’m loved and most of all helped me learn my aspirations.
