Hi! My name is Bri, and I’m a Hospitality and Tourism Management student with a deep passion for creating welcoming, memorable experiences for others. I’ve worked hard since I was 16 to gain hands-on experience in the industry, but what truly drives me is the belief that hospitality is about care, connection, and community.
I’m pursuing my degree not just to build a career, but to build a life where I can make a difference, whether that’s helping someone feel at home in a hotel, organizing inclusive community events, or mentoring others entering the field.
A scholarship isn’t just financial support for me. It’s encouragement to keep going, keep growing, and keep working toward a future where I can give back to the industry and the people who’ve helped me along the way.

Sylvester Taylor "Invictus" Hospitality Scholarship
Hospitality, at its core, is about making people feel welcome, safe, and valued, no matter where they are coming from. For me, it is a career path rooted in empathy, service, and the belief that everyone deserves experiences in comfort and connection. I have been working in this field since I was sixteen, and through every experience from customer service roles to helping manage behind-the-scenes operations, I have come to understand how much of a difference hospitality can make in someone’s life. That is the kind of difference I want to make.
In the long term, I hope to move into a leadership position within the hospitality industry so I can influence the culture of the workplaces I am a part of. I want to foster supportive, respectful environments for both guests and employees. I have seen how hospitality roles, which are often underappreciated, can burn people out when support and care are not given to the team. I believe good leadership should lift others and show appreciation because people who feel supported create better experiences for everyone around them.
Additionally, I would like to create a mentorship program to mentor others who are just entering the industry, especially younger individuals who are working their way up like I did. There is a lot of strength in learning the ropes from the group up, and I want to be someone who encourages others to see the value in their work and pursue growth with confidence.
Receiving a scholarship would be more than just financial help. It would be a vote of confidence in my future and the positive change I want to bring to the hospitality industry! It would allow me to continue building my education while staying grounded in my purpose: to serve with heart, lead with integrity, and build a career that brings warmth and care to the world around me.
