I moment that I feel like I can remember vividly was being on the track team my junior year of high school. This was my second year of track and my first year really wasn't the best so I had this year to make up. We were doing the indoor season so many schools will come to compete and each school would send their top three guys for each event and best relay team. There were a bunch of guys who wanted to join the track team so not everyone was going to compete at all of our meets that year. We would run a time trial to see who was the fastest which dictated who run in the meets that year. Every practice I gave it my all and worked even harder because I was so dedicated to making a spot on the team. I would do recovery when I get home, eat properly, and look up tips at school to better myself and hopefully get faster since I wasn't known for being a very good sprinter and I certainly wasn't the best on the team. After many days of practicing with team, we finally held our time trial date I saw this as an opportunity to show everyone what I really was made of and make it on the team. After watching many of the guys on my team go, it was my turn to demonstrate my speed and when he hit the stopwatch I ran as fast as I could to the finish line at the end. When practiced was finish, I was frustrated because I felt like I could've ran faster until I saw a piece paper hanged up on the wall at practice the next day. It was the results of the time trials and I managed to get top 6 out of all the sprinters in the group which made me feel accomplished because of the hard work I put in. During that season I competed in many meets coach gave me but I underperformed since it was first ever meet so the nerves got to me when racing. But than the championship meet came up and that's when I had to bring my absolute best to the table no matter what. I worked as hard as I can to get myself to peak condition and before I knew the day arrived to where this was the most important meet of all time. I had to run two events that day and lets just say that the first one wasn't my best but I manage to get us some points to help our team win. Than the last event which was me and three other guys and we had to do a relay event. We managed to come up top and the momentum of that race propelled the school forward to help us win the championship that year as well. I felt like my hard work and dedication to training met with the opportunity to compete allowed me to be part of the championship we won as a team. Now that I am going to Howard University and just finish my last years of track, I wanna thank the coaches for providing me the opportunity to get where I am today and I hope that this letter inspires many others like me out there that wanna grind and work harder for something so they can prove themselves to the world.
