My name is Brian Panton, and I’m currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where I transferred in Fall 2024 after earning my Associate of Science in Architectural Engineering Technology from Seminole State College of Florida. My goal is to continue on to earn a master’s degree in the same field and eventually become a licensed Professional Engineer, specializing in transportation.
Returning to college has been a lifelong dream of mine. After the 2001 attacks, I chose to serve in the Marine Corps instead of going straight to college. That path led me into a civilian contracting job overseas, where I met my wife. When we moved back to the U.S., I took a stable but unfulfilling job so she could focus on building her career. In 2022, we welcomed our daughter, and with my wife thriving professionally, we decided it was the right time for me to go back to school and finally pursue the career I’ve always wanted.
Right now, I’m gaining hands-on experience working part-time in the transportation department of a local engineering firm. I’m fortunate to be learning from a great mentor who pushes me to grow every day. This journey has taken time, sacrifice, and persistence, but I’m more motivated than ever to succeed and make a meaningful impact in the field of civil engineering.
