Bio

My life goals are to be the first person in my family history to attend college and graduate with a degree in the major I envision, which is nursing. I went to a Catholic school for the past four years of my high school career. I've learned a lot to prepare to excel in the next level of school. I'm currently a senior that will graduate in June of 2024. The choice I'm making of attending college will inspire my younger siblings to do the same and pursue their goals especially coming from a low income household.

Out of my four years of playing high school basketball at Devon Prep, I achieved the goal of being a 2024 3A State Champion. It took a long time to accomplish this goal. There were ups and downs in this process, to the point that I almost quit playing for the team. But I told myself, " You didn't do all this for nothing. All the sacrifices of taking my time out of my day all year round to go up and back to an area that's not in my city to work on my craft and qualities of my skills in playing basketball." My mindset is what helps us accomplish that goal. At the end of the day, everything doesn't come fast; it takes time and will come with a purpose. The obstacle I've overcome is being a young black male from the city of Philadelphia. It's hard coming from my area, a lot of people drop out of school and don't know what to do next with there lives. They would consider going down the wrong path and trying to make money the hard way. I've watched close friends do things like this, which makes it seem that it's normal, but not in my eyes. Even the point where one of my closest friends since middle school got killed in March of 2023. I felt like their was nothing or no one to help me or support me but the only thing that did was love the game of basketball. I used my anger and aggression on the court, which actually made me play better. Basketball helps me express my feelings that I actually hold in and do not show other people. I've never thought a game with a ball and basket could have a major impact on anyone's life. I will always have the same intentions and feelings about what the definition of basketball means to me. Basketball has not only taught me something on the court but also skills that I will use in my everyday life. It will help me understand the different life situations and struggles that will come my way on this earth. It has taught me how to live on as a man and to love and experience the ways I can express the same feeling on and off the court. I would use the advice from this sport in my career of leadership that I will face at the next level of becoming a real adult.
