Bio

I am not a typical college student because of already having over 44 years of experience in the nursing field, and a senior citizen. I love being a nurse and my goal is to obtain my BSN and then Advanced Practice Nurse Adult NP. MSN degree. I have kept at least a 3.7 GPA, not too bad for being terrified going back to school. I am on the board of a non profit group working with the homeless. There is such a need for health care with them. My goal once I graduate is to be able to care for these forgotten people. There are so many needing help on the street. I am married with 2 beautiful daughter and their spouses. I have 7 incredible grandchildren. Here it is 45 years later and now I want to go back to school to do what I really want to do. I want to make a change in the world. I have done different areas of the Nursing field from pediatrics, Critical Care, ED, Home Care, Home Infusion, and Adult Day Care. I may be "Old" as so many younger nurses have called me but, working the the forgotten population is my ultimate goal. My dream is making homes for these people. I may be retired but have many years of nursing left in me. The scholarships I apply for will help me reach my goal since being on a fixed income the education costs is difficult.

I have been volunteering cooking for the homeless camps in the city. After 5 years they have asked me to be on the board of a non profit group working with the homeless. There is such a need for health care with them. I have such dreams. My goal once I graduate is to be able to care for these forgotten people. There are so many needing help on the street. I am married with 2 beautiful daughter and their spouses. I have 7 incredible grandchildren. Family is so important to me. The love i have for my family is unwavering, just as theirs is to me. I spent all free time from working with my family. I would have missed so much of their life if I took the time when they were all growing up. Now here it is 45 years later and now I want to go back to school to do what I really want to do. I want to make a change in the world. I have worked in many areas of the Nursing field from pediatrics, Critical Care, ED, Home Care, Home Infusion, and Adult Day Care one of the things that is awesome about nursing. I may be "Old" as so many younger nurses have called when I was working, I was looked at and treated like i didn't know anything. I have years of experience which is worth more than letters after a name. Working with the forgotten population, the homeless, is my ultimate goal. I may be retired but have many years of nursing left in me. The scholarships I apply for will help me reach my goal since being on a fixed income the education costs is difficult. I realize that everyone is thinking they should recieve the scholarship but, I am a minority being a senior citizen and I know what I need to have to obtain my goal. I honestly feel that there is a reason for everything, God has plans for me. I just need to listen.
