Growing up, I always knew that I had to decide what I wanted to do in life and create a plan for my future early on. Being a first-generation college student is challenging, but I’ve always felt that I have a clear purpose. I plan to earn my bachelor's degree in Animal Health, and with strong academic performance and dedicated volunteer work, I hope to be accepted into veterinary school. There, I will gain the skills and knowledge I need to become a successful veterinarian.
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to work with animals. My love and passion for them only grew stronger over time. I’ve always cared deeply about their well-being, so the decision to become a veterinarian came naturally to me. When I reached middle school, I joined my first agricultural class. It was an exciting experience where I learned about different animal breeds, body structures, plants, and environmental health.
I realized early on that being a veterinarian meant understanding all kinds of animals and learning as much as possible about them. Although it seemed like a lot to take in at such a young age, my passion made it easier and more enjoyable. In high school, I advanced to more challenging agricultural classes thanks to the foundation I had built in middle school. That’s when I met Mr. Taylor, an amazing teacher who taught me everything he could about livestock and equine medicine.
Mr. Taylor introduced me to FFA (Future Farmers of America), which broadened my perspective on agriculture. I began to understand how deeply agriculture touches every aspect of our lives—from the food we eat to the clothes we wear and even the cars we drive. Through his guidance and support, I was inspired to pursue a career as a small animal and livestock veterinarian.
Thanks to Mr. Taylor, I was able to earn service hours toward a veterinary assistant certification. I gained hands-on experience working in a veterinary clinic, where I learned about diseases, medications, and different treatment methods to help pets live healthier lives. Knowing that I wanted to work with livestock, I also participated in farm visits where I helped castrate calves and palpate heifers—experiences that taught me important handling and care techniques.
In conclusion, becoming a veterinarian has always been my dream, and it remains my life’s goal. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had so far. These experiences have strengthened my passion and prepared me for the journey ahead. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow so I can one day help animals as a compassionate and skilled veterinarian
