I have known that I wanted to be a doctor since I was 5 years old, and I'm finally starting my long journey to achieve that goal. I've decided in the last three years that I want to be an ultrasound technician or radiology technician, but money is a huge problem for me. I come from a very low-income family where both my parents are disabled and unable to work. I am a very hard working student who never has a grade below 90. Since I've always known what I wanted to be, I also knew that I would have to work hard to get there. I also struggle with ADHD and how much harder it makes my learning experience, but even with those struggles I still push through and do my very best.

Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Why do I love math? That is a very good question, math has been my favorite subject for as long as I can remember. I feel almost as if I get a high from solving equations and answering word problems.
If I had to choose, geometry would be my favorite subject in math. In my opinion, which was not very popular in my high school geometry class, I've always enjoyed doing proofs, although some were very tricky, I always loved the challenge. I also enjoyed trigonometry, it was one of those things that just came to be naturally, and was so fun once I got the hang of it. I have always been the smartest in my honors classes, especially when it came to math, but to me, it's not just about being the smartest, it's about enjoying the subject you are learning, and mastering it.
If I had to say the person who taught me to love math, it would've been my sixth and seventh-grade math teacher Mrs. Teresa Fann. She made math so fun and she was an amazing teacher. She always told me to be myself and that alone would take me anywhere I wanted to go in life. She was like my second mom, and after going all the way through Elementary school being bullied and hating school, she made me look forward to going to school, just for her class, and in all that I began to love math. Having a best friend for a teacher throughout middle school taught me that even though things don't always go your way if you have someone by your side everything will be okay. Our shared passion for math made us so much closer, and I just wanted to thank Mrs. Teresa for everything she has done for me, I know she would be so proud of me for how far I've come.
