    Beyond The C.L.O.U.D Scholarship
Throughout my academic journey, I have had several notable experiences that I am proud to look back on. One of my earliest successes came in high school when I made the decision to switch from track and field to softball. Despite having no prior experience, I worked hard to develop my skills and was delighted to earn a spot on the junior varsity squad as a freshman. Throughout the season, I remained dedicated to learning the sport and honing my abilities, and this unwavering commitment was recognized when I was voted the most improved player by my coaches and teammates. In addition to my athletic achievements, I have also excelled academically. With guidance from my brother and mother who have successful careers in the engineering field I decided to take college classes in my junior and senior year of high school. This not only allowed me to complete the necessary engineering classes to transfer to a 4-year university but I proved to myself that I could take classes at the highest level and succeed. With the classes I completed at Edmonds College, I transferred to the University of Washington and graduated one year earlier than my classmates from high school. I am honored to have earned a place on the quarterly dean's list and the annual dean's list at the University of Washington for the 2022-2023 academic school year. This recognition is a testament to my hard work and dedication to academic excellence. My passion for innovation, desire for autonomy and flexibility, and vision to create positive change in society has led me to pursue the MS in Entrepreneurship degree, and I am excited to see where this path takes me. Not only will this degree equip me with the abilities to manage my own business one day but it will teach me valuable financial and leadership skills that can add on to becoming a project manager in the STEM field. I believe I deserve this scholarship because throughout my academic journey I have had to prove to others and to myself that women can succeed in the STEM field. Moreover, my journey as a woman in the STEM field has been marked by resilience and determination, challenging stereotypes and inspiring others. Seeking this scholarship is not only a personal endeavor but also a commitment to being a role model for young women, encouraging them to pursue their dreams despite societal expectations. Lastly, receiving a scholarship would not only ease the financial burden but also empower me to pursue my educational goals without the weight of prolonged student debt. It would provide the support needed to work fewer hours at my part-time job, allowing me to dedicate more time to my studies and extracurricular activities. Ultimately, this assistance would bring me closer to achieving my dreams of entrepreneurship and contributing to the engineering field, breaking barriers for women in the process.

My name is Boryana Koseva, I am 21 years old and I was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I come from a family of engineers who have been my greatest sources of motivation and inspiration throughout my life. My journey from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, to pursuing a Master's in Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver has been a unique blend of cultural experiences, academic discovery, and personal growth. Having moved to Seattle, Washington, at the age of two through the green card lottery, my family's roots in both Bulgaria and the United States have shaped my worldview and aspirations. Despite not initially having dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer, my passion for the field ignited during my junior year of high school. It was a result of my love for astronomy and the desire to learn more about the mysteries beyond our planet. Participating in the Washington Aerospace Scholars Program where a team of 10 of us hypothesized a mission to Mars, led me to the realization that aerospace engineering was my calling. As I delved into engineering courses, I became increasingly aware of the need for more diverse voices, especially women, in the engineering realm. Now, as I pursue my MS in Entrepreneurship, my goal is twofold. I aspire to equip myself with the skills necessary to establish my own business while also contributing as a managerial force in the engineering sector. Balancing work and academics has become a pivotal aspect of my life, as my family falls into the financial bracket where qualifying for aid is challenging, yet shouldering the entire burden of college expenses proves financially stressful. In my household, which consists of my mother and me, I bear the responsibility of funding my academic tuition, along with the costs of books and supplies. Working part-time helps alleviate some of the financial strain, and I increase my working hours between academic quarters. Additionally, we provide ongoing support to my grandmother in Bulgaria, sending monthly funds for necessities like food, utilities, and medicine. Every summer, we travel back home and assist her with appointments, shopping, and house repairs. Receiving a scholarship would not only ease the financial burden but also empower me to pursue my educational goals without the weight of prolonged student debt. It would provide the support needed to work fewer hours, allowing me to dedicate more time to my studies and extracurricular activities. Ultimately, this assistance would bring me closer to achieving my dreams of entrepreneurship and contributing to the engineering field, breaking barriers for women in the process.

3D printing human organs has the potential to make the world a better place in several ways. One of the most significant benefits of 3D printing human organs is its potential to address the shortage of donor organs. Each year, countless lives are lost as individuals wait in the hope of receiving a suitable organ transplant. 3D printing can help bridge this gap by creating custom-made organs that match the patient's specific needs, reducing the waitlist and saving lives. This means not only reduced waiting times but, most importantly, more lives saved as patients receive the organs they desperately need. 3D printing also allows for the creation of organs tailored to the individual patient's needs. Allowing the creation of organs tailor-made for each individual significantly heightens the odds of successful transplantation and drastically reduces the risk of rejection. In addition to these life-saving benefits, the speed at which 3D printing can produce organs is a game-changer. Rather than enduring extended periods of uncertainty while waiting for a compatible donor, patients can receive their much-needed organs more swiftly, offering hope and reliability in urgent situations. 3D-printed organs can also be used for testing and research purposes. They provide a platform for scientists to study diseases, test new drugs, and develop treatments. This means the potential for faster medical advancements, innovative therapies, and enhanced healthcare for everyone. In conclusion, 3D printing of human organs is an innovative and revolutionary tool in healthcare as it tackles the organ shortage, introduces a new level of personalization to medicine, reduces the risk of rejection, shortens waiting times, and advances medical research. Although the technology is still a work in progress, it has the potential to save lives and enhance the overall well-being of our world.

My mother has always been an incredible source of inspiration in my life. From an early age, she demonstrated the power of hard work in advancing one's educational and career journey. She pursued a bachelor's degree in systems engineering in Bulgaria, even though opportunities for employment in her field were scarce at the time. Undeterred, she transitioned to teaching English in a high school for several years until our family's life took an unexpected turn when my father won the green card lottery, leading us to make the life-changing move to the United States. It was upon arriving in Seattle that Boeing, a prominent aerospace company, finally recognized my mother's dedication and qualifications. She embarked on her journey there and, over the course of 15 years, has achieved remarkable success, eventually becoming a program manager. Her unwavering determination and relentless work ethic have left an indelible mark on my life. I admire her each day for the values she has instilled in me: perseverance and the belief that one should never give up on their dreams. I vividly recall a time during middle school when I was grappling with self-doubt about taking advanced mathematics courses. I was filled with fear, convinced that the material would be too challenging for me. It was in that moment of uncertainty that my mother stepped in as my unwavering pillar of support. She had absolute faith in my abilities and assured me that I had the potential to succeed. Her belief in me was a guiding light that helped me overcome my fears and hesitations. One pivotal moment occurred in high school when I contemplated enrolling in running start classes at Edmonds Community College. My algebra 2 teacher was skeptical about my capabilities and expressed doubt that I could handle the coursework. It was my mother's voice that countered that doubt, assuring me that I possessed the resilience and aptitude to excel. Thanks to her encouragement, I pushed forward, and a year later, I returned to show that very teacher the 'A' I had earned in a college-level calculus class. My mother's unwavering support and belief in my potential proved to be a driving force behind my success. Throughout my life, she has remained my most steadfast advocate, constantly pushing me beyond my perceived limits. My mother's unwavering support has encouraged me to reach heights I never knew were attainable. She has shown me that hard work, determination, and self-belief are the keys to realizing one's aspirations, and for that, I am forever grateful.
