My name is Bonnie Briscoe and I am a senior at Henderson High School. I will graduate from Henderson High School in May 23, 2024. During the last four years of school, my academic achievements and extracurricular involvements have taught me to become ambitious for my future and to be driven for my success. Throughout high school, I have consistently maintained an exemplary academic record being an honor roll student. I am a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Cheerleader being a member from 2021-2024, and play on the Tennis and Golf team. Also, I was chosen to be a part of a cheer squad that preformed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November 2023. My dedication to my studies and extracurricular activities shows me demonstrating my commitment to academic excellence in high school. I have actively sought opportunities to broaden my horizons, whether participating on the FFA CDE Vet Team, Meat Judging Team, and the LDE Skills Team. I also raise goats and lambs to participate in the Rusk County Youth Ag Show I am taking an animal science class as well as advanced animal science. I also have learned valuable work ethic working part-time for Donovan’s Landscaping. These experiences have allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills, making me well-rounded. I will attend Stephen F. Austin State University in August of 2024. My plan is to major in Animal Science or Agriculture Management. My goals after high school will be to attend SFA, receive my degree, and volunteer in my community. I will strive to achieve top grades as I did in high school. To help me with my future endeavors, I also want to build relationships and connect with the department head at Stephen F. Austin State University’s. Having a college degree will help me with better job opportunities and getting a job I love and enjoy. Also, I can be financially stable to volunteer and give back to my community. It would be a privilege for me to come back to Henderson Texas and give back to my community. I would love to help support the Rusk County Youth Project Show, just as they did for me while I was participating and showing animals. Since I have a brother who is currently in college, financial limitations have posed a significant obstacle to realizing my dreams. The cost of education and the extensive training required for any career surpass the capabilities of my family's financial resources. Receiving a scholarship would be a lifeline that could help me overcome this obstacle and enable me to dedicate all my focus to my studies and future profession. Receiving a scholarship would not only alleviate the financial burden associated with my education but also empower me to focus wholeheartedly on my academic and professional development. It would enable me to immerse myself fully in my studies and pursue additional learning opportunities, such as internships or specialized training, to become the most competent and skilled veterinarian I can be. Your scholarship would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Have you ever been riding on a horse through the open pastures with a rope in hand trying to chase and pen cattle? Just like the cowboys you see in the western movies? My name is Bonnie Briscoe and I am a senior at Henderson High School. I was raised in the piney woods of East Texas next to my grandparents who lived on a ranch. I would help them every summer as his ranch hand. My fondest memories on the ranch would be when my grandpa would tell me that “The Cowboys were coming” to work his cows. I loved watching them ride the horses to round up and doctor the cattle. I would be on my horse riding and helping the cowboys. They would teach us how to doctor the cows and explain why they needed it, which was my favorite part. That is when my fascination began with the management of livestock along with the farming operations I witnessed on his ranch. I loved my summers helping work with the animals. I also volunteered at the local animal shelter, assisting with the feeding, grooming, and general care of abandoned and mistreated animals. This hands-on experience not only highlighted the significance of animal welfare in my life but led me to my love for animals. I will graduate from Henderson High School in May 23, 2024.
