Stacy T. Mosley Jr. Educational Scholarship
Ever since I was a young child, the marvels of computers and the endless possibilities they offer have held me spellbound. Witnessing the rapid advancements in technology has only intensified my curiosity and ignited a deep passion within me. As I embark on my academic journey, I am resolute in my determination to pursue a degree in computer science. My aspiration extends beyond the mere fulfillment of a childhood fascination; I yearn to be a part of the cohort that propels transformative change in our world. In particular, my dream job revolves around becoming a cyber security analyst, leveraging my expertise to establish my own contracting company that dispatches highly skilled personnel to assist various organizations with an array of services. Within this envisioned company, one of the prominent services I intend to offer is conducting thorough penetration tests for businesses, ensuring their robust defenses against any potential intruders. Similar to the notable achievements of Chris Jackson, I am currently faced with a significant obstacle—financial constraints that hinder my pursuit of this esteemed degree. My family's financial struggles, compounded by the need to allocate resources to address other pressing issues, make it challenging for my mother to allocate any remaining funds toward my educational expenses. Despite tirelessly applying for numerous scholarships, I have encountered unfortunate circumstances where I have been unable to secure the financial assistance I desperately need. This inability to lighten the burden on my mother weighs heavily on my heart, motivating me to hold my head high and remain steadfast in the hope that one day I will have the means to repay her unwavering support once I attain my degree. In fact, the gratitude I feel toward those who have paved the way for me fuels my unwavering commitment to paying it forward. My ambitions extend far beyond benefiting solely my family; I aspire to assist other students grappling with the financial strain of pursuing higher education. Through generous donations and the establishment of programs designed to nurture and support underprivileged children from an early age, I aim to provide opportunities for young minds to explore their passions and discover their potential. By empowering these students and fostering their development, I believe we can create a brighter future and a more equitable society. In conclusion, my unyielding passion for the realm of computers, coupled with a fervent desire to contribute to positive change, has propelled me toward the pursuit of a computer science degree. This field offers an avenue for me to channel my enthusiasm into meaningful endeavors that can reshape our technological landscape. As I navigate the challenges imposed by financial limitations, I remain steadfast in my determination to overcome these obstacles and fulfill my aspirations. Armed with knowledge, experience, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to contribute to the dynamic field of computer science and leave a lasting impact on the world around me.

I have always embraced the opportunity to support my community, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. Throughout my high school years, I actively participated in numerous organizations, reinforcing my commitment to service. One of my earliest involvements was with Books For Africa, where I contributed my efforts to assist communities in another country. During my time there, I was assigned various responsibilities, primarily involving the collection and organization of donated books. Sorting them into different genres and categories, I diligently packaged them into sturdy cardboard boxes for shipment to Africa, where they would be distributed. In addition to Books for Africa, I also dedicated my time to Sarita's Playpen Childcare Services. Within this role, I supported the staff in any way possible, whether it was engaging the children or assisting with housekeeping tasks. Engaging with these organizations not only exposed me to diverse mission statements but also taught me invaluable lessons in helping others and personal growth. These experiences instilled in me a newfound sense of purpose. Throughout my high school community service endeavors, I encountered individuals from various backgrounds who shared their life stories with me. A common thread among them was the regret of not being able to pursue their original dreams due to limited resources or circumstances beyond their control. Some yearned to give their aspirations another chance but felt exhausted from diverting their energy into unrelated fields, while others lacked the necessary resources to start anew. It is unjust that people who possess the determination to reignite their dreams are often unable to do so due to unfavorable circumstances. Consequently, I am determined to employ my knowledge and expertise to assist individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. While I have already gained experience working with people, I recognize the importance of a comprehensive educational background to solidify my ideas and initiatives. With this in mind, my first step towards achieving this goal is pursuing a college education and obtaining my degree, allowing me to forge a career that aligns with my aspirations. This scholarship holds immense significance in facilitating this initial stride, as I have faced difficulties securing financial assistance over the past year. Pursuing education out of state incurs significant expenses, and financial support would greatly alleviate the burden both on me and my parents. This assistance would enable me to further my studies at North Carolina A&T State University, an exceptional institution that provides an exceptional opportunity for my chosen major, computer science. Finally, I can devote my academic endeavors to a field that has captivated my interest since adolescence, fueling my determination to accomplish even more and providing the motivation to reach new heights. Nevertheless, as I progress in my personal journey, I am committed to returning to my roots and aiding those who share my purpose. Throughout my studies and beyond, I will always remain dedicated to giving back to my communities, both locally and globally

Since a young age, I have been captivated by the wonders of computers and the limitless possibilities they offer. The rapid advancements in technology have fueled my curiosity and ignited a deep passion within me. As I embark on my academic journey, I am determined to pursue a computer science degree. My goal is not only to fulfill my childhood fascination but also to be part of the people who bring transformative change to our world. As such, my dream job is to become a cyber security analyst and use my experience to create my own contracting company that dispatches personnel to various companies offering various services. One of these services is running a penetration test for the companies to make sure they're capable of warding off any unlikely intruders. Much like Chris Jackson, I’m struggling to afford my path to this degree. Belonging to a family that struggles financially due to having to pour money into other issues, it's difficult for my mother to spare any remaining money for my school expenses. It makes it no better that no matter how many scholarships I apply to I'm unable to receive any, unable to lighten the burden on my mother. Even with circumstances such as these, I still hold my head high in hopes that I'll be able to pay my mother back once I receive my degree. Much like those who came before me, I intend to do the same for them. Not stopping with just my family, in the future I intend to help students who are struggling to afford an education. Through various donations and even starting programs to foster kids from a young age, so that they're able to figure out their passion from a early age. In conclusion, my unwavering passion for computers, combined with a strong desire to contribute to positive change, has led me to pursue a computer science degree.

Driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious offense that can have severe consequences on both the driver and society. DUIs can lead to loss of life, serious injury, and legal consequences. However, there are several strategies that can be employed to prevent DUIs. To prevent DUIs, there are several strategies that can be employed. One of the most effective strategies is education. Public awareness campaigns can educate individuals on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Moreover, educational programs can be provided in schools and universities to teach young adults about responsible drinking and the dangers of driving under the influence. Another effective strategy is enforcing strict DUI laws. Law enforcement agencies can increase their patrols and conduct sobriety checkpoints to identify and arrest impaired drivers. Additionally, stricter penalties can be enforced, such as mandatory jail time and fines, to deter individuals from driving under the influence. Lastly, technology can be used to prevent DUIs. Helping my community has never been something that I would ever shy away from. My high school years have proved this with the many organization that I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. My very first experience in service was helping at Books For Africa; working to help the communities of another country. During my time there, volunteers were assigned different positions where we performed a very simple process. This involved collecting donated books from the bins they were brought in and organizing them into different genres and categories. Once organized, the books were packaged nicely into cardboard boxes that would be shipped out to Africa to be distributed. Besides Books for Africa, I’ve spent my time working with Sarita’s Playpen Childcare Services. Helping around and providing any assistance to the staff, whether it be keeping the children entertained or housekeeping tasks. My time with these organizations has exposed me to many different mission statements, teaching me different ways to help people along with making me a better person. My time with these organizations has inspired me with a newfound purpose. While performing community service throughout high school, I’ve come across people of various backgrounds. All of them told me about their life stories. One common thing amongst them is that they wish they could’ve followed their dreams as they originally intended to. Often people don’t have the materials or circumstances that prevent them from being able to do what they want. Due to this, they’re often left with regrets they don’t want. Some people try to jump back into achieving their dream but are tired of spending their time going into other fields. In other instances, they don't have the resources to start all over again. It’s not fair that people who are willing to give their dreams another chance are unable to live out due to bad circumstances. As a result, I intend to use my knowledge to help people that come from unfortunate backgrounds. I already have experience working with people, but I need the background to flesh out the ideas that I have. With this in mind, my first step is going to college and acquiring my degree so I can build my career the way I want. This scholarship will help tremendously with this first step, I’ve been struggling with earning scholarships this past year. Attending school out of the state is expensive and money doesn’t come easy. With tuition being up to 35,000 any amount of money would help to lighten the load off of me and my parents. Thus allowing me to further my education at North Carolina A&T State University. Attending this university is an amazing opportunity that I won’t take for granted. I’ve earned my way into going to one of the best schools for my major, computer science. I can finally start dedicating my school days to something that I’ve been interested in since my adolescence. This one fact spurs me to want to accomplish, even more, giving me the motivation to go far. However, even when I go far in my life I will always remind myself to come back to help those who find my purpose. While I earn my degree and after I’ve received it, I will always be of giving my heart to my communities and those around the world.

Challenges will always come to those who walk a successful road, as such I’ve always been given difficult battles. One of the biggest battles that I’ve had to overcome was my parents fighting over me, bringing up old issues about each other in order to undermine one another. This went on for the remainder of my summer break leading into school, it was exhausting having to put up with their egos every day. Along with no one to talk to, the stress of the situation was beginning to take its toll on me. That coupled with having to make sure I was doing college work and the stress of going through a heartbreak, my mind was doing cartwheels. I was struggling in both school and my personal life, and at that point, there was no sign of a recovery coming. With the numerous things going on in my head, I found it difficult to grapple with my thoughts. Being unable to draw what I had envisioned, or say it out loud without stuttering over myself; for a long time, I didn’t think I would be able to express myself. I had lost my confidence. This started to change during the course of the Quarantine period. I was assigned a creative writing assignment by my teacher. Much like being the author of your own story, I had the freedom to write about the issues that I was dealing with. From being unable to see friends to having to deal with the aftermath of my parents battling over me, everything was becoming a massive weight on my shoulders. However, this meant I could funnel my bizarre thoughts into interesting concepts to create small stories about characters dealing with the same issues as me. The task was to write a story based on anything from your personal life. Seeing this as an opportunity to talk about the effects of quarantine and my parent’s battle, I immediately began to work on it. After brainstorming different story concepts to give me an idea of how to turn these issues into a good tale, I wrote a short story called, “Static”. The objective was to illustrate a tale about a world filled with nothing but TVs lined up in front of each other. On each TV was a show playing, the TVs were connected to a grid where the “souls” of the shows would commune with each other and interact. The main character also had a TV, but unlike the others, it appeared as tv static. Tired of being unable to properly express himself, the main character goes on a journey to figure out his identity. This story helped me vent my feelings and helped me because it allowed me to muster the courage to end the feud between my parents. Not only did I become a peaceful mediator between the two of them, but I scored very highly on my assignment. Allowing it to become one of my greatest personal accomplishments and one of my best academic accomplishments.

It’s not fair to the people who are unable to live out their dream due to bad circumstances and not having the resources. As a result, I hope to use my knowledge to help people like this. Starting with computer science and those interested in computer science. Before I receive my degree in Computer Science, I will be making big waves in a small pond. Working towards getting my qualifications in cyber security so I can be steps ahead of others and also working to earn my degree. Upon receiving my qualifications I will put them to work and earn myself a job as an IT analyst. However, those won’t be the only responsibilities I’ll take on. Using my knowledge of cyber security and what I’ll be learning from my courses at North Caroline A&T, I’ll teach people interested in computer science. This gives them an opportunity to get exposure to cybersecurity and coding while also providing them with the resources to do this. Allowing younger audiences to test the waters before fully committing to this pathway, seeing if they truly enjoy this as something they want to do. And the older people will have an opportunity to get back into the field they once had an interest in. If everything goes well then I’ll serve as a mentor and guide them through the path, not cramming all the information into their head for them to forget it. Rather, going through different parts of it and allowing them to take in everything at their own pace so they don’t become intimidated by the plethora of subjects to learn. I will continue to do this while I earn my degree and after, but I will begin to do more to help others around me. Not only will I still try to mentor those interested in computer science, but I will help people with technology issues. Providing services so they don't have to pay for over-priced services from companies tryna just take their money. Working with people from all types of backgrounds in order to help them understand the technical issues that plague them and how they can prevent them. This way they won’t have to worry about recurring problems and will learn how to fix the issues themselves, thus reducing the cost to have IT specialists come to check things out all the time. From helping people interested in computer science to help people from various backgrounds with their technical issues, I will make sure that I put the knowledge from my computer science degree and cyber security qualifications to use.

Challenges will always come to those who walk a successful road, as such I’ve always been given difficult battles. One of the biggest battles that I’ve had to overcome was my parents fighting over me, bringing up old issues about each other to undermine one another. This started to change during the Quarantine period.

Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
Currently a student at North Carolina A&T. I'm a goal-oriented individual capable of adjusting to any new environment that I'm put into. Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, I plan to immerse myself in my field so that I become a valuable asset to any client I work with. This stems from a young age, I've always been interested in technology. I always went to my dad's job and was exposed to video editing. From there my exposure to technology dramatically increased, from wanting to be an editor like my dad to wanting to design the games that I played. With this love for technology, I started my computer science journey, exposing myself to different areas. Before long, I found that my passion for technology introduced me to cybersecurity. Being able to prevent people from being hacked and being able to hack was something that I would enjoy learning about. After walking across my graduation stage and getting a computer science degree, I plan to pursue my dream job of working in the CIA. The experience I would receive from working in the government would be well worth anything that I go through. Taking the knowledge I received and using it towards my own benefit to build a business helping people with their technical issues. It would be similar to "Geek Squad" except black-owned. Even thinking about my future, I still have to pay attention to what's going on now. By giving this scholarship to me, you'd be investing in a brand that will impact everywhere. My goal to help people with their technical issues would expand to the world, helping people of all backgrounds. Especially those in dire need, impoverished families are the main focus of who I'll be helping. Not often do families have access to technical resources, so they're more susceptible to cyber-attacks. As a result, I plan to help them while providing the knowledge to help prevent these attacks.
