Dreamer's Midpoint Scholarship
Helping to tutor kids helps me to give back to my community and in communities all across the world. Contributing nationally and globally has shaped my life for the better and helped me to understand the importance of education.
At the University of Maryland - Baltimore County, I will be studying Computer Science and Cybersecurity.
I want to help with preventive computer security measures that deal with cyber warfare problems at both the national and international level. I also hope to have the opportunity to study abroad and engage in cyber security work so as to broaden my perspective in computer science and tech skills through those of different walks of life.
I am very passionate about the importance of inclusion and representation. For many years now, I have been helping many children that generally struggle in school in STEM/computer science courses. This helps me to give back to those less fortunate.
Moreover, while my dad, who was from West Africa, was alive, with his company, Okowe Investments Ltd., my dad and I had once given out school books to the kids in the nearby poor communities and villages. On that day, I gave a speech on the importance of education to all the kids who were present. This was one of the most important things to him for his organization: to give back to the kids, and I treasured being apart of it all.
My ultimate goal after succeeding with my Computer Science and CyberSecurity degree, is to start my very own student success center. There are so many students in need of important life skills around the world, and I would love to be a leader in the development of young children’s life skills such as online safety precautions, computer programming, personal data protection, financial education, and mental/physical health.
Getting the Dreamer's Midpoint Scholarship would not only help to propel me financially to be able to finish off my last remaining years of college, but I understand the importance of getting a computer science degree to be able to work in cybersecurity and give back in ways that can shock this world. It is one of the most important things to me, to get my degree and to give back, as well. That is another reason why I am applying to the Dreamer's Midpoint Scholarship because I believe that this program can help me academically as well as help me to be able to achieve more certification in security fields that can help me stand out in the cybersecurity field.
Unfortunately, two years ago in February, my biological father passed away. It was so devastating. As a daughter, who also lost her mother at age 4, this was heartbreaking. What was so touching to me is when I was told that one of the last things that my late dad said was to make sure that my school fees were paid. My current problem is that no one in my family supports me. I am a woman with great dreams and I have the intellect to go far. However, if I don’t pay my school fees, I will be forced to leave higher education and forfeit all my hard work so far.
To conclude, I would love to say thank you to whoever is reading this. I appreciate your consideration and your effort to help students have a good, worthwhile education. I will continuously be driven with the passion to achieve my dream of getting a Computer Science degree every day.

What I have seen firsthand with the UMBC student body is that this university has the same values that I do. It has many programs set forth that emphasize online Cybersecurity problems, like the Cyber Defense Club, hackUMBC, the UMBC Center for Women in Technology, and more.

Chadwick D. McNab Memorial Scholarship
“Wow, that seems so much easier than I thought,” said the girl I was tutoring that day. We laughed and we learned together. Not by conventional ways of thinking but by thinking out of the box and by being committed to solving the coding problem. In my life, I found a purpose to help others succeed in their education. Over the pandemic, my friend and I created a tutoring website. Helping to tutor kids helps me to give back to my community and in communities all across the world. Contributing nationally and globally has shaped my life for the better and helped me to understand the importance of education. I’ve now committed myself to give others an opportunity to be properly educated every chance that I get.

Going to college isn’t just about the studying aspect, it’s mainly about the life lessons that you get out of it and the relationships built that transcend years after graduation. I’ve learnt so much over the past two years at my university. I can’t wait for my future because what my best friend’s support and UMBC together has given me, makes me perfectly sure of future prosperity and a peaceful life.
