My life goal is to become a physician's assistant. I plan on studying psychology as an undergraduate student and then continuing on to further my education and become a PA. My mother is a disabled veteran, and I have been there to help her when she was overcoming several health issues. This is what has prompted me to want to enter the healthcare field.
I grew up competing in golf and this is my passion. Golf requires a great deal of mental strength. Added to this, you learn about patience, sportsmanship and camaraderie.
I am a great candidate for this scholarship because I consider myself to have been and continue to be a great asset to society. I intend to continue to give my all in my studies in order to become a great health care giver in my community.

Hulede Collegiate Golf Scholarship
My name is Bianca Gibbs, and I am a combination of Hispanic, African American and Ukrainian American.
When not competing in golf or studying, I invest my time in school activities such as HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), Yearbook Club, and President of Shanti (a mental wellness club). I also like to spend time with my friends.
I have been accepted to Vassar College and have committed to the Vassar women's golf team. I start college this fall. My life goal is to become a physician assistant. I plan on studying psychology as an undergraduate student and then continuing on to further my education and become a physician assistant.
My mother is a disabled Marine Corps veteran and I have been there to help her when she was overcoming several health issues, and major surgeries. This is what has prompted me to want to enter the healthcare field. I grew up going with her to doctor's appointments at the Veteran's Hospital in South Florida. This has made an impact in my life and given me the passion to want to give back and help others. When entering the veteran's hospital I always see a sign that says: "The price of freedom is visible here." You can actually understand it's meaning when you enter the facility and see veterans with missing limbs, or with oxygen tanks, and wheelchairs.
I am a great candidate for this scholarship because I consider myself to have been and continue to be a great asset to society. I intend to continue to give my all in my studies in order to become a great health care giver in my community.
The first adversity I faced in life was when I was 9 years old. My mom and I travelled to England for a US Kids golf tournament. Upon landing in London, we noticed that our luggage and my golf clubs didn't arrive with us and were missing. My tournament was going to be in 2 days. My mom and I went to the golf course the following morning and mentioned to the director that we would probably need to cancel our participation since we had no clubs and no golf gear. He was kind enough to let us borrow brand new golf clubs that he had in his warehouse. He also provided golf shoes, gloves, hat, balls and tees for me to borrow.
I went out to practice with these new clubs and gear. They didn't feel like my regular clubs but I had no choice but to use them for the tournament. This was the worse setback I've ever had in my golf history. My mom was my caddie at the time and she asked me not to let this dampen my mood. We went out there and I played my best. On awards day I ended up coming in second place by one stroke! I wasn't expecting to do so well, and this taught me that life is full of surprises. I will take this lesson with me to college. I have learned that setbacks will happen but it's how you approach and deal with them that makes you successful!
Tom LoCasale Developing Character Through Golf Scholarship
My name is Bianca Gibbs. I am a combination of Hispanic, African American and Ukrainian.
Growing up, my backyard faced a golf course, and at age 4 I would always watch the women and teens tee up right behind our house. My mom noticed this and got me started with golf lessons. I wanted to hit balls every day. I would not get in the car to go to Kindergarten until I got to hit some balls before school. I took lessons every Saturday morning, and Mandarin Chinese every Saturday afternoon. My mother had given me the options to study either Spanish or Russian. She was confused when I said Mandarin Chinese since I don't come from an Asian background, but she still honored my wishes.
Golf means a lot to me because it makes for a beautiful day. I get to be outdoors, walking the course and looking at diverse wildlife. When I have tournaments, I get to see all my golf friends and their parents. Winning tournaments always adds that special touch of being recognized for my hard work. I started competing in golf when I was around 7 years old, and my mom was my caddie. It was great spending the day together walking the course and talking about anything and everything. Those are special moments for me. By age 9 I no longer had a caddie, but my mom was still there supporting me from a distance. Golf requires a great deal of mental strength. Added to this, you learn about patience, sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Championship Wins: I am a two-time BCAA (Broward County Athletic Association) Champion, winning consecutive titles in 2024 and 2025. Course Record: In October 2024, I set a course record at the BCAA Invitational by shooting a 5-under-par 66. State Success: I qualified for the Florida High School State Championship for two consecutive years, finishing my senior season in 2025 with an eighth-place finish (out of 96 participants) in the Class 3A tournament. Postseason Dominance: As a senior, I also placed first at the BCAA tournament (71) and finished second at the district tournament with a 70. I gained significant recognition as the 2024-25 Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald Girls Golfer of the Year.
The biggest lesson I learned throughout my years of competing, are the changes in the South Florida climate such as fewer hurricanes and increases in temperature. I learned that those changes were caused by climate change and global warming. I then made it my mission to capture as much CO2 as I can with the help of Crispr-Cas9! Other than carbon capture, I love working to restore forests and marine ecosystems damaged by climate change, natural causes, and other human activity. I also love golfing and I'll be on the Vassar College women's golf team starting in the fall of 2026!
