These circumstances can cause college to very easily and quickly become overwhelming. Additionally, I work full time as a safety specialist, so scheduling for me is that much more difficult. It is important as a college student that works full time to find time to take care of my mental wellness. Whenever my mental health is declining, so is my attention to detail when it comes to coursework. I find that on days where I am sad or in lower spirits than normal, the quality of my work the first time around is not the best. It takes multiple reviews to get my best work accomplished on difficult mental health days. Conversely, I notice that on thriving mental health days that I am at my best when it involves quality, time spent, and overall success of coursework. This teaches me that my mental health is a direct correlation of my success rate when it comes to schoolwork, hence why it is so important to prioritize my mental health. When I was twenty-one, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and generalized anxiety. Recently, I was diagnosed with attention deficit hypertension disorder. Navigating life with these challenges has been unique to say the least. I have had to unlearn so many things I thought to be true through the lens of my mental disorders. I have been able to keep on top of my mental health by attending talk therapy and regularly seeing my psychiatrist. The combination of therapy, psychiatry, and medication has helped me significantly improve and stabilize my mood, energy, and focus levels. I have gone from manically cramming all of my coursework in one night to setting up a steady schedule for myself to complete tasks without rushing. I've been able to navigate anxiety through these tools by being more relaxed when planning on coursework. I have learned to prioritize focusing on one task at a time. Aside from medical intervention, I have also made going out and enjoying life a priority to good mental health. I have picked up the hobby of bowling. It is something that eases the mind, is fun, and rewarding. Through bowling, I have learned that life is meant to be enjoyed. I spend more time with friends and enjoying life to the fullest. This helps keeps me grounded when it comes to my mental health. There are a variety of ways to prioritize mental health and it look different for everyone. For me, it is attending therapy and embracing life to the fullest. College helps me with this as well by giving me a sense of purpose and belonging.

The debate surrounding the existence of God is extensive and often polarizing. Individuals tend to uphold their beliefs, whether rooted in faith or scientific reasoning. The validity of either perspective is challenging for me. Personally, when contemplating the notion of a divine entity, I can appreciate how some perceive God as a tangible and guiding force. The intricate balance of life's complexities, from our planet's optimal positioning relative to the sun to the remarkable functions of our biological systems, suggests a profound design. Conversely, others find credence in the theory of the Big Bang and evolution, attributing our existence solely to scientific processes. I neither affirm nor dismiss the existence of God or the occurrence of the Big Bang. Raised within a religious framework, I initially embraced faith but gradually became disillusioned as scientific knowledge expanded my understanding of the universe. The more I learned in school about how the universe works, how our planet came to be and how we as humans came to exist, the less I had faith in God. Despite this, encounters with missionaries briefly reignited my religious fervor. Eventually, doctrinal beliefs of the church came out regarding same sex marriage led me to reevaluate my beliefs once more. I was not able to hold the same respect for the church that I had previously. I believed that if God gave us freewill, we should be able to exercise that however we saw fit. Whether we as Christians believed something to align with our beliefs or not, we were all given the same freewill by God to do as we saw fit. Inevitably, I lost interest in religion again. This time however, I didn't completely give up my faith in God. I still prayed from time to time, with some experiences resulting in what appeared to be answered prayers. My faith in God had not dwindled, just my respect for churches and organized religion. As of today, I do not pray or attend church. I am not sure where my faith stands. My journey has been marked by fluctuating levels of faith, tempered by rational inquiry and personal experiences. While I no longer engage in regular prayer, occasional instances evoke a sense of divine intervention. Yet, as a scientist, I am bound by empirical evidence and logical reasoning, which sometimes conflict with matters of faith. Consequently, I remain uncertain about the existence of God, acknowledging the complex interplay between reason and belief.

My therapist has changed my life for the better in every way. She is who inspired my love of the field of psychology and is why I want to pursuit a career in therapy. Becoming a therapist will enable me to help others with situations similar , adjacent, and completely different to mine. This is how I plan to make a positive impact on the world. Giving back to the community of people I have shared experiences with will fulfill my purpose in life.
