I live in Michigan, Commonly known for our inconsistent weather and fluctuating temperatures. However, just yesterday, Febuary 27, it was a high of nearly 70 degrees and sunny. My friends and I went longboarding and had fun as if it was spring already. Today, Febuary 28, it is snowing. I've lived in Michigan for 18 years, not once have we had a change of temperature and weather so fast and to such a degree. Our current society is putting our planet in great danger of climate change. If a 50-degree change in temperature over a couple of hours doesn't indicate the risk our earth is in, then I don't know what does. We need to take global action, to reverse the harmful effects we are having on our beautiful planet. Our lifestyles are not adequate to sustain a healthy environment for much longer. Until global action is taken and we can incorporate international cooperation into healing our world, the consequences are going to continue to pile up. We are seeing an increase in global warming at alarming rates. Many people share the belief that climate change and global warming are not individual problems. This is wrong in so many ways. Every single person who is willing to change their lifestyle and have a healthier and more sustainable way of living is one step closer to battling climate change. Even if it is recycling, walking more, carpooling, and reusing daily items, it makes a difference. Anyone can create a change for a better and more sustainable future. The earth is suffering, we need to join the fight against climate change to protect our future.
