Forever Young For a long time, I wished to be an adult Once I was an adult I could do everything my heart desires Reality is, that growing up just means you now have to race the clock of aging and death Enduring life as an adult takes strength that isn’t in me Vows have been made here and today, in my mind and heart Evil that is age will not reach me Rabbit holes and flying boys will always find me Your only choice is to find a way to stay a teenager forever Only then will you be free of the torments and pains of being an adult Under the flower of youth is where life truly thrives Not a day I will give to the shadows of time Growing up will not be my story for I shall stay, forever young.

I remember the first time I said that I would be a doctor. I was in kindergarten, and it was career day, and at that age, I loved to show off. Everyone went up to the front of the class and said teacher, doctor, firefighter, policeman, or vet. When it was my turn, I went and said, “ When I grow up, I want to be a pediatrician”. It was horribly pronounced, and I got weird looks, but ever since then, I could picture my future, and it was very bright. I’m now a sophomore and a future pediatric surgeon. My sister is going to college this year, and I’m watching how she is constantly fighting with my parents because she wants to go to the college of her choosing, but they want her to go to the cheaper, lower-ranked one. I don’t want to compromise my education because my mom makes 38k a year. I want to be great, and to be great, I need to think of what it takes to get there. If I were to win this scholarship, I would save it for my future tuition so I can start building the steps that will lead to fulfilling that know-it-all 5-year-old girl's dream of one day becoming a great pediatric surgeon.
