My ultimate life goal is to develop into a well-rounded, contributing member of society. I strive to be a net positive force for my community, city, state, and country—someone my parents can be proud of. Attaining degrees in higher education is a critical step toward achieving this goal, and I’m deeply committed to the journey of personal and academic growth.
I am passionate about math, business, education, and finance. These interests drive me both in the classroom and in my volunteer work, where I focus on improving educational and economic opportunities for underserved communities. Through organizations like "100 Black Men of America" and "St. Carries Center SMART Academy," I tutor high school students in math, personal finance, SAT preparation, and college applications. Helping these students realize their potential and expand their horizons is a deeply fulfilling experience.

Theresa Lord Future Leader Scholarship
Education has always been central to my aspirations, shaped by my upbringing and family values. As a third-year student at the University of California, Riverside, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Data Analytics and a minor in Finance, I believe education is the key to unlocking opportunities for myself and others. This conviction aligns with the legacy of Theresa Lord, who championed education as a pathway to success for Black individuals.
Growing up in an underserved community, I faced significant obstacles that tested my resilience. Navigating the complexities of college applications while managing financial constraints at home was particularly challenging. My family struggled to make ends meet, and the pressure to succeed weighed heavily on me. However, this experience taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance and self-belief.
During this time, I sought support from mentors and community organizations, including my involvement with 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Through their encouragement, I learned that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a crucial step toward growth. As a volunteer mentor, I guided young Black students through academic challenges and career exploration. Witnessing their growth fueled my passion for paving pathways for future business leaders and solidified my commitment to ensuring that others have access to the same opportunities I strive for.
My educational goals extend beyond personal achievement; they encompass a commitment to empowering Black entrepreneurs and decision-makers. I aspire to create a digital platform that supports Black-owned businesses by offering financial literacy training, mentorship connections, and access to funding opportunities. By providing these essential tools, I aim to foster an ecosystem where aspiring entrepreneurs can thrive despite systemic barriers.
The Theresa Lord Scholarship aligns perfectly with my mission. It represents an investment in individuals committed to making a difference in their communities through education. Receiving this scholarship would alleviate financial burdens, allowing me to focus more on my studies and community initiatives. It would enable me to develop programs that promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship among underrepresented groups.
As I continue my education, I aim to mentor Black students who may feel discouraged by the lack of representation in business fields. I want to be an example that their aspirations are achievable and that they can thrive despite societal obstacles.
My journey is fueled by a desire to uplift my community and create lasting change. The obstacles I've faced have taught me resilience, the importance of seeking support, and the value of education as a tool for empowerment. With determination and passion, I am ready to honor Theresa Lord's legacy by using my education to build a better future for Black individuals in business.

As a third-year student at the University of California, Riverside, majoring in Business Administration with a focus on Data Analytics and a minor in Finance, I am dedicated to turning this vision into reality.

Boyd J. Cameron Memorial Scholarship
Pursuing a business degree is a crucial step in my commitment to uplifting my community and addressing systemic inequities. As a third-year Black student at the University of California, Riverside, majoring in Business Administration with a focus on Data Analytics and a minor in Finance, I have witnessed the challenges that Black individuals face in the business world. My education is not just about personal achievement; it is about using my knowledge to create opportunities for others.
Growing up, I saw the struggles of Black entrepreneurs in my community. Many lacked access to essential resources and mentorship, which often limited their potential. This motivated me to pursue a business degree—not only to gain valuable skills but also to empower others to overcome these barriers. I believe that education can serve as a powerful equalizer, providing the tools necessary for success.
One of my primary goals is to promote financial literacy within underserved communities. Many aspiring entrepreneurs are unaware of basic financial management principles or how to start their own businesses. I plan to create workshops that focus on budgeting, investment strategies, and business planning. By equipping individuals with this knowledge, I hope to inspire confidence and encourage entrepreneurship among those who may feel discouraged by their circumstances.
My involvement with organizations like 100 Black Men of America, Inc. has solidified my commitment to mentorship. As a volunteer, I have guided young Black students through academic challenges and career exploration. Witnessing their growth has fueled my passion for paving pathways for future business leaders. I want these students to understand that their dreams are attainable and that they can thrive despite societal obstacles.
In addition to mentorship, I aim to advocate for more inclusive opportunities in business education. Many students may feel isolated by the lack of representation; I want to show them they belong in this field. By sharing my experiences and insights, I hope to inspire them to pursue their goals with determination.
The Boyd J. Cameron Memorial Scholarship will be instrumental in furthering my education and enhancing my ability to effect change within my community. This scholarship will provide me with the resources needed to expand my mentorship efforts and develop initiatives focused on financial empowerment for Black entrepreneurs. With this support, I will be better equipped to foster lasting change and create opportunities for those who need them most.
Ultimately, pursuing a business degree is not just an academic endeavor; it is a commitment to uplifting my community and creating pathways for future generations of Black business leaders. By leveraging my education and experiences, I aim to build a brighter future where success is accessible to all.
Mohamed Magdi Taha Memorial Scholarship
I am a current 3rd year Black student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Data Analytics and a minor in Finance at the University of California, Riverside. I firmly believe that education is the most powerful tool for transforming lives and uplifting communities. For me, education has been a pathway not only to personal growth but also to overcoming systemic barriers. Coming from a background where financial and educational opportunities were limited, I have always viewed education as the key to unlocking new possibilities. It has provided me with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue my passion for business and finance while also inspiring me to give back to others who face similar obstacles. The racial gap in degree attainment and underrepresentation of Black professionals in business and finance has long been a source of inequity. I am determined to help change that narrative, both for myself and for future generations.
An up-stander is someone who uses their voice, actions, and influence to make positive change, not just for themselves but for their community. I strive to embody these qualities by standing up for those who may not always have the ability or platform to do so, particularly in the areas of education and financial empowerment. Through my work with 100 Black Men of America, Inc., I have been fortunate enough to leverage my education to uplift others and advocate for equity in education. I have mentored students from underserved communities, helping them navigate the complexities of higher education, SAT preparation, and financial literacy. I have seen firsthand how small acts of guidance, encouragement, and support can transform someone’s life trajectory. By standing up for these students and providing them with the tools they need, I am not just helping individuals succeed, but I am also building a stronger, more equitable community where success is accessible to all, regardless of their background.
Like Mohamed Magdi Taha, I believe in using my voice for the greater good. Whether it’s advocating for more inclusive opportunities in education or promoting financial literacy for underserved communities, I aim to be a voice for those who are often marginalized. As I continue my educational journey, I plan to scale these efforts by developing programs that promote financial empowerment, especially for Black and minority entrepreneurs. My ultimate goal is to help build a community where everyone has the tools to succeed and the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the barriers they face.

Edward Dorsey, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
I am a current 3rd year Black student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Data Analytics and a minor in Finance at the University of California, Riverside, I recognize the importance of representation in business leadership and the lack of such in our community. The racial gap in degree attainment and underrepresentation of Black professionals in business has long been a source of inequity. I am determined to help change that narrative, both for myself and for future generations.
Investing in Black-owned businesses has consistently shown the potential for a higher return on investment (ROI) than the national average, making it a smart and profitable business decision. Studies indicate that Black entrepreneurs often outperform peers in driving innovation and creating opportunities within underserved markets, yielding high growth potential. Additionally, increased consumer interest in supporting diverse and socially responsible businesses has led to greater demand for products and services from Black-owned companies. By investing in these businesses, investors not only contribute to closing the racial wealth gap but also position themselves to benefit from strong financial returns in a growing and increasingly diverse market.
Through my involvement with organizations like 100 Black Men of America, Inc., I have already seen firsthand the impact of mentorship and guidance in shaping the futures of young Black students. As a volunteer, I’ve mentored students in academic and career preparation, helping them develop leadership skills and navigate the barriers they may face.
