Bio

I am going to school to be a surgical technologist/Allied health professional. I am following in the foot steps of my Grandma and mother-in-law. I am wanting to go into this career to help people and get the opportunity to grow. I want to eventually go back to school to become a First Assist that way I can better my education and am more useful in the OR. I would love to eventually become a Travel Tech and take jobs in other states to be able to travel the US. I want to travel the world and visit new places. My dream is to go to Iceland and Greenland. I have been to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras and want to keep expanding the list. I never got to go many places growing up with having 4 siblings and in a low income family so would love those experiences. I love to play games and spend time with my family. We go at least 3 times a month to my in laws to play games. Family means a lot to me and eventually I want to start my own.

I would use the $1,000 for the one thing everyone wants., no debt. I would use it to start paying off the debts that I have acquired in the last couple of years. As most teens do, I got a credit card and maxed it out and ten just snowballed from there. my boyfriend and I are now trying to pay off all my debt and be basically as reasonably debt free as possible. We want to make sure that we are able to build or buy a home when the time comes and that there is nothing in the way of that.
    William M. DeSantis Sr. Scholarship
You learn from mistakes. This life lesson has always helped me not get so frustrated with myself when I make a mistake. I was always told making mistakes are life and that is how you learn. Its had to allow yourself to admit when you male a mistake but it is important. When you start looking at mistakes at learning opportunities life will become a little better. People have to make mistakes to find out what does not work, in either life or their careers. When you make a mistake you learn to not do that again and will think of it when you encounter it again. I am going to school to become a Surgical Technologist. When I am at clinicals, if I mess something up I remember that. I do not beat myself up about it but I do take it and remember to fix it next time. All you can do is try again and work on what you are struggling with. When you beat yourself up about it you are not in the right mind set and are closed minded to things.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
Sometimes I really think about the most important things in the world like does a straw have one hole or two holes? There are so many different justifications for each answer. I think I deserve this scholarship because I know the right answer for this question. There is only one hole. I know this because it is just one connective hole. If there were two holes then each ed would have a new beginning. What are my goals for my career? I have never even thought of this before, such an odd question to ask. I think that my goal is to skate through and hope that I graduate in months. I think that if I study then I would maybe have a chance but why not just skate through? One time I over came an obstacle was when I was with my niece at the playground. We were playing tag and I had to jump over a stick. It was a pretty decent sized stick and honestly I was worried I would not make it.
    Bold Wise Words Scholarship
One things that my mom has always told me was do not sweat small things you will live life miserable. I try to live with these words as much as I can because life is not always amazing like we think it will be growing up. I am a person who very easily over thinks things and stress myself out over so many things. My mom as had to talk me down many times because I get myself so worked up. As an adult I try my best to live by this. Sometimes its had to let things go and not think about them. I read into things easily and panic. I always remind myself that as I am worried about how that person looked at me I am busy enjoying life as well. We all get so wrapped into the drama of things we forget to live. When you are always thinking about things you do not get to have fun and enjoy life.
    Bold Goals Scholarship
I am currently working a full time job and going to school full time as well. My goal for the future is to become a surgical technologist. I am currently leaving my house at 5:30 am and no getting home until 8:30 pm Monday through Friday. Between work, school, and clinicals I have about 2 hours of free time a day. On the weekends I am usually doing school work at least 8 hours a day to get all my work done. I am trying my best to achieve my goal to work in my dream job. I love being in the OR and working right next to the surgeons. I graduate in December so only have 6 months left until I hit my first goal to become a surgical technologist. I most definitely was a little worried about going into the healthcare career path because it was nothing I had ever thought of before. My mother-in-law is a surgical tech and helped push me into this career. I am so grateful she did, I have never been happier. When I finish this degree, I am hoping to continue my education in about 2 years. When I get my degree I would love to wok and get 2 years under my feet. After I am done with that I want to go back to school to become a First Assist. This would give me more responsibilities in the OR and be more helpful to the doctors. I would be able to assist them in surgery with things a normal tech can not. Things such as suturing, help control bleeding, and inject medications. Things that will help take ease off the surgeon. My goal is to become as knowledgeable as possible and further my career as much as I can.
    Bold Study Strategies Scholarship
I have always been the student that could do the review and then pass a test. I never had o do readings or anything to lean what I needed for a test. When I got to college it was like a brick hit me in the face. College is nothing like high school at all! You can not study for 20 minutes before a test and be okay and pass a test. I had to quickly learn how to study like I had never learned to before. The first thing I found that helped is flashcards. I use flash ads for everything. I use them while traveling places, long and far. I went on a cruise and took flashcards with me to study on the ship while I had down time on the balcony. When at home I take a blank wall and tape flashcards and when I walk past I have to answer at least one question. This helps me learn things long term and have to recall the information to use again. The second way I love to study is YouTube. There are so many great and reliable resources if you can find them. I am going to school to be a surgical technologist so I love to watch doctors preform surgery. This helps me recall what I have seen in the OR and helps me write my papers. When I was in anatomy I would watch Crash Course videos to help me better understand things and get a second way to look at it then what my teacher explained. The third way I study is with online apps on my phone. You will always have your phone so its a great study tool. There are so many apps you can find sorting for everything.
    Bold Generosity Matters Scholarship
Generosity is one of those words where everyone sees it differently. Generosity to me means that a person is doing something and not expecting anything from others. Generosity is just wanting to do something out of the good of you heart. Many people in todays world will only do things if there is a benefit for them. When you have this it become everyone for themselves. You have to be willing to do things that benefit someone other than yourself. The world we lie in is about a balance of give and take. People easily mix up the words generous and kind. To me kind is doing something and you do not want to. You may be being kind but are you being a generous human being? Are you expecting something in return for the task you just completed? Generosity is even when no one is watching you are still going to do the right thing. Many people in this word need to learn to be more generous in life and make the world a better place to live. Do something nice just because and put a smile on someone face. Small actions make a huge difference in the world.
    Bold Listening Scholarship
Everyone knows how to be heard but not everyone knows how to listen. rowing up I was told that we were given two ears and one mouth for a reason. Many people do not know how to take a minute to listen to someone when they need it. It as gotten even worse as things advance because people always have something else they are doing or on their phones the whole time. If some one is talking to me I give them all my attention. Nothing else matters in those minutes I need to listen to some one. I find it rude when people are on their phones or looking at something because you are not going to hear what that person is really saying. I like to make sure that I am looking at the person and not through them as well. The worst is when you are talking and someone looks like a zombie while they are looking at you because they are zoned out. I was taught that you should not cross your arms because it comes off as rude. Listening is all about your body language and it is not hard to make someone fell as though they are not listening. Listening is very important to me. I am a person who has to know you are listening or have heard what I said. I will repeat myself may times and some people find it annoying but it is just something I need in my life. You need to listen to people because sometimes they just need anyone to talk to. When you hold things in and feel like people will not listen it only makes matters worse. Make sure that you can always be someone that someone can rely on.
    Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
Life's simple pleasures can range from people, to things, to memories. Everyone's are different and unique to their lives. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Personally a few of mine are my family, my dogs, and board games. Firstly, my family was my first thought when I read this question. Many people take their families for granted and forget that not everyone has a supporting family in their lives. I am so thankful for not only my family but my soon to in-laws as well. With my in-laws we try to make it a point to go over at least every weekend even if only for a couple of hours. I see some of my family everyday as we work together right now. I know that when I graduate and leave I will miss it and miss seeing them all the time. My family is so important to me because I know they are there for anything. We all support each other as much as we can and always there is someone just needs to talk. Secondly, my dogs are a simple pleasure as well. I just got them on April 18th at 7 weeks old. They are two Siberian Huskies and have just been amazing. Its an amazing thing to be able to come home and see them. Lastly, an odd one is board games. My boyfriend and I have started a board game collection, as of now we have about 140 games. Its fun because its something we both really enjoy to do together. We also try to play at least every other weekend at his parents house. They just make everything a fun time and bring people together.
    Bold Driven Scholarship
How many goals do you think an average person sets in a life time? Everyone sets goals from something, from academics to school to personal life, we are always setting goals. Goals can be big or small just depending on what you are trying to accomplish in life at that moment in time. My main goal right now is to finish college, become a surgical technologist, and start a family. I am only 8 months away from finishing my fist goal of graduating college. I am currently enrolled at Trine University getting my associates degree to become a surgical technologist. I am achieving this goal by maintaining good grades, missing as minimal days as possible, and working hard. I am set to graduate in December as long as I can get a loan approved for my last semester. I am working hard at work as well to save and have been filling out as many scholarships as I can. I want to be able to finish school so I can become a surgical technologist. My personal goal is to start a family about a year after I graduate. I have always wanted a big family as I came from one.
    Pet Lover Scholarship
When I was about 8-9 years old my mom was in and out of the hospital. I had a hard time dealing with this and never really understood it as a kid. When I was 11, my parents finally let me get my first pet of my own. I decided that for my birthday I wanted to get a guinea pig of all things. After some convincing, because my mom hates rodents, my dad took me to the pet store to look. I ended up getting a brown and white crazy haired guinea pig and named her Daisy. Daisy taught my how to be responsible when taking care of another living thing. My parents were very adamant that it was my job to take care of her. I had to clean her cage, feed her, play with her, and make sure she got the exercise she needed. Then about a year later I got another guinea pig Honey. Daisy and Honey helped me a lot while my mom was in and out of the hospital. As a kid you do not understand what is going on when mom is some where and you do not see her for a week or only once a week. Having pets helped get my mind off of where mom was and what was going on. It gave me a new responsibility to take up some time. Then at that age the worst thing ever happened to me, Daisy passed away, and to make it even worse my mom was in the hospital and not there to help. All I had were my older brothers and dad who thought the most logical thing was to just throw her in the garbage can. Thankfully my mom was able to talk them into digging a hole. Then with just having Honey my parents got divorced when I was 13. Honey helped me with emotional support and just helping me relax. Pets make a huge difference when you just need to calm down. I love pets because they love you no matter what, are a great support system, and always put a smile on your face. Pets will love you unconditionally. It is so sad but so amazing that even after a pet has been abused they will still love that person with all their hearts. It is so sad that even with something so traumatic they try to make peoples lives better. They are a great support system when you need someone to just be there. They just pay with you and relax. They also just know when something is wrong and can sense it. they also just know how to put a smile on your face. As soon as I see my pets I instantly feel relived. They are so funny and their little personalities are crazy. Pets are an amazing thing and know how to make things better.
    Bold Great Books Scholarship
The family you are born into can make or break you. My favorite book is The Child Called It. It is a book that I read in middle school and over and over again even now as an adult. This book is such an inspiring story. David had to work so hard just to survive and had to learn it at such a young age. This is a book that when you think about instantly makes your stomach clench because of all the terrible things you read. I think it is also a reality check to people who did not have to deal with situations. It makes you really think that you never know what goes on behind closed doors. It is easy for people o put on an act and make it believable. I think that it also always made me remember you need to be patient with people. You need to be kind as a human being because you never know what people are going though. It is hard to imagine these things if you have never seen them before or experienced it. This book help shed a light on child abuse and also signs to look out for. I think that this should be a book that every one reads at least once.
