Ever since I can remember, I have loved numbers. Throughout grade school, math has always been my favorite subject. When somebody would ask me what my favorite subject is, I wouldn't even have to think about it. I immediately said math. It didn't matter what math class I was in, I always chose the one involving numbers. I possess some of the qualities necessary for becoming an accountant as well. I'm extremely analytical and detail-oriented. I love using spreadsheets and keeping everything organized. In 8th grade, I had to write a massive essay about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. My mind instantly went to accounting. Since it was a research essay, I was able to affirm my decision in wanting to be an accountant. I also gained some useful knowledge on this specific occupation that swayed my decision even further. My love for numbers is the ultimate reason I dream of becoming an accountant. Accountants are important in numerous aspects of life. Whether it be businesses or the general public, they serve as assets for various reasons. The main reason, and probably the most important, is financial assistance. Accountants are the ones that maintain an accurate record of all the financial transactions. They do so in a way that's systematic and organized. All of the records that are meticulously arranged, are the backbone of an accountant's job. They use this financial data for a variety of uses. An important way in which they are used is to assist a business or the broader public in making decisions. Some of these decisions can make or break a business, depending on how crucial it is. Accounting is also a great tool used in evaluating performance. The records reflect results of operations and how they are doing financially. For anyone needing a budget or assistance with future projections, accountants are the main people to go to for advice. Another reason accountants are vital in society is for tax purposes. They keep track of income sources, deductions, and expenses so they can precisely report to the IRS. Accountants help determine how much tax a company owes, how to pay any owed taxes, and how to prevent negative actions on behalf of the IRS. This includes things like audits or penalties for improper taxation or filings. Accountants are also the keepers of proper tax records in case of an audit. Based on all of my research on accountants, and how they are important to society, I know for sure this is the career I want to pursue in my future.
