Bio

I am a type 1 diabetic and didn’t think I was going to get this far in life. I made the move to Texas 4 years ago. I watched my mom struggle with being a single parent with a child's disability. My mom was an educator and that is the field I am going into. I have been fortunate enough not to take loans to cover the bills that are looming. I will be living on campus and need the scholarships and funds to cover that cost. I would like to become a teacher , so that I can help the future of this country with their potential.

The drive to become a teacher came from my mom. She taught 5th grade for 10 years in my elementary/middle school in Colorado and about 4 other teachers I have had over the years. I always wanted to teach with a side quest of being a veterinarian. We moved to South Texas 4 years ago to be closer to family and now my mom is the manager of a middle school cafeteria. I have been accepted to Texas A&M University Kingsville. I am going for my bachelors in Agribusiness with a teaching certificate. I want to teach Ag in the middle school/high school. I am an 18 year old, Type 1 Diabetic. I have taught Sunday school at my church. I have lead VBS in different states and countries. I am in FFA-homemaking; FCCLA; Interact-student body type club; Earth Club-secretary; in my teaching class we have a group and I am the president. I am really very proud of all that I have accomplished in the 2 years that I have been at Calallen High School. I am an entrepreneur, I have sold my homemade crochet and baked goods at town markets and online. I am very driven at everything I do. I have 2 dogs and 19 chickens. I am an only child, but have lots of family around to keep me centered. I am a member of my youth worship team at church. I work as an assistant teacher/lead sometimes for an in home art studio (3 years), we do paint parties and art camps. I led my first art camp this year over spring break, a whole week of Miss Bailey! I have led two birthday parties! This scholarship will help with the cost of housing and meals while I am going to school. I will also be applying for a work studies job on campus. I am very crafty and they have an epic work lab with 3D printers, Cricut machines, laser cutters, and embroidery machines. The goal is to get a job there, so I can still use my crafting skills while I learn about the ag business. I appreciate your consideration to award me this scholarship to help with my journey and adventure to realize my dream of becoming the best teacher I can be, I really want to be the light in this ever dark world. I really do like kids and can not wait to be in a classroom. Thank you

I am an 18 year old Type 1 Diabetic, that lives in South Texas for the last 4 years. I have been accepted to Texas A&M University Kingsville to pursue a bachelors in Agribusiness with a Teaching Certificate. I want to teach agriculture in the middle/high school. I am very driven to get through that next four years with all the help that I receive. I have participated in FFA-homemaking, I took 3rd place for a stuffed doll; FCCLA; Interact Club; Earth Club-sectary; and I am the president of my teacher group. My mom was a 5th grade teacher at my elementary/middle school, for 10 years. I have gone on a couple mission trips to other countries and taught VBS as well as VBS at my home church. I have taught Sunday school for age 5. I have done many small town markets where I sell homemade baked goods and handmade crochet items. I have designed t-shirts and logos. I am currently working for an in home art studio, paint parties and art camps, as an assistant teacher. I have led several classes for my boss when she is sick or out of town. Teaching has been what I always wanted to do in some shape or form, with the side quest of being a veterinarian, I love animals almost as much as I love kids. I am applying for this scholarship to help offset the cost of housing and meals for the first year. My mom is a single parent who has put my needs before hers for a long time. She is 100% behind me in all I do. We did not know if I would make it to this stage in life, but doctors and technology are making things possible for me to have a normal experience. I have worked so hard to get my diploma. I love teaching, from the littles to the bigs. I am very motivated, when I put my mind to something I do it to the best of my abilities. I am becoming more financial dependent on myself and less on my mom. I am looking to get a car and making payments is going to be the most grown up thing I have done. Please consider me for this scholarship and becoming a part of my adventure to the future of Agri business/Ag teacher with me. Thank you again, and have a wonderful April and I hope the rest of your year is the best it can be.

My mom was always budgeting the groceries, mortgage, and my medical expenses along with her needs. I get my love for teaching from my mom, she was a 5th grade teacher at my elementary/middle school for 10 years, now she is a cafeteria manager in a middle school. I have a checking and savings account, I pay a couple bills, I will be financially responsible for a car payment and insurance soon. I am a 18 year old Hispanic female, living in South Texas for the last 4 years (Calallen/Corpus Christi), I was raised by my single mom, who was a teacher in my elementary/middle school. We moved here to be closer to our family, who does disaster relief for hurricane and flood victims. I have been accepted to Texas A&M University Kingsville. I am going into an Agribusiness degree with a teaching certificate, so that I can teach Ag classes on a middle school-high school level. I am a driven person with entrepreneurial skills, I have a small crocheting and baking business, I have done several small town markets. I am an assistant teacher for an in home art studio, we do paint parties and art camps during breaks and summer, I have been the lead teacher a few times. District 27-A2 Lions Diabetes Awareness Scholarship
As a thriving 18 year old girl, who was diagnosed at the wonderous age of 5, just getting ready to start kindergarten. Diabetes has always been there in the background. I have had DKA and super lows that make a "normal" life crazy! I did not know if I would get to go to college, but I do and I am. I am going to be a freshman at Texas A&M University Kingsville, Kingsville, TX 2026-2027. I am going to study agriculture with a teaching certificate. I would untimely like to be an Ag teacher at Calallen High School in Calallen, TX. I love teaching, I love educating people on my diabetes and how I can and am living just like them. This scholarship would help offset the cost of housing and meals that my mom is putting into my future. My mom has been the biggest cheerleader that any child could have. She has always been focused on my education and helping me believe that I can do anything that I want to do, even with my diagnosis. I always wanted to teach, my mom taught 5th grade my 1-8 grade. I have volunteered in the children's ministry with my church. I am a sub teacher for an in home art studio that does private parties as well as homeschool art classes. I love the idea of reaching the younger people who may not have a stable home life or just need a friend to get through the day. I have been to diabetes day camps and week long over nights. I have delt with ups and downs of burn out and growing up. As I look to the future I am hopeful that maybe I can be apart of finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. My first mission trip was to Mexico in June, we were on the coast, so not to hot, just humid. I was 7 years old. I have traveled to Israel, that was an amazing trip, I was 10. I have traveled all over the states. I have made a major move from Colorado to South Texas, I was turning 15. I have had a few endos, and recently a kidney doctor. Everything is ok there. I want to show others with a silent disability that they can live a normal, healthy life. That it is possible to do everything that anyone else can do. I have answered to the best of my ability. Thank you for the consideration.
