      Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Protecting and preserving my mental health is an important part of my overall health. Many people focus on physical health by exercising and eating a proper diet however mental health is usually forgotten. As a young woman striving for a bright future, endeavoring to have integrity, make the right choices, stay true to my convictions and never stop learning and build academically, it can be hard to balance both school and self-care. The pressure to excel in my studies often leads to burnout and feelings of being overwhelmed. With a high school GPA of 4.0, I am committed to my education, but I understand that maintaining my mental wellbeing is crucial for long-term success. I’ve adopted the concept mental health is wealth and I want to Iive by those words and vow to prioritize my mental health. As a rising high school senior aiming to study Biology (Pre-Med), and minor in Performing Arts, at Oakwood University, my schedule will be overwhelming. The workload and the expectations are intense. To manage this, I have found that talking to a therapist is very helpful. Therapy provides a safe space to express my feelings and gain professional advice on coping strategies. It is a vital part of my mental wellness routine. Another way I maintain my mental health is through music. Music is my happy place and allows me to be calm and find relief from life’s stressors. Whether I am listening to my favorite songs or discovering new artists, music has a therapeutic effect on me. It helps me unwind after a long day of studying and keeps my spirits high. In addition to therapy and music, I enjoy watching movies and roller-skating. These activities serve as a good pastime and help me keep my mental health in check. Watching movies allows me to escape into different worlds and stories, providing a much-needed break from my academic responsibilities. Roller-skating, on the other hand, is a fun and active way to relieve stress. It combines physical exercise with enjoyment, which is beneficial for both my mind and body. Balancing school and self-care is not always easy, but I am learning that prioritizing my mental health is essential. By seeking support through therapy, immersing myself in music, and engaging in hobbies, I manage to maintain my mental wellness. These practices help me stay focused, motivated, and resilient in the face of academic challenges. As a Black woman, I am aware of the unique pressures and obstacles that come with my identity. It is important for me to acknowledge these challenges and actively work towards maintaining my mental health. By doing so, I can continue to pursue my academic and career goals with a clear and healthy mind. In conclusion, my mental health is important because it directly impacts my ability to succeed academically and personally. Through therapy, music, and hobbies, I ensure that I am taking care of myself while striving for excellence. This balance is key to my overall well-being and future success.

My name is Azareya Philossaint, I am a 17-year-old Haitian American young lady from Miami, Florida. Growing up in a tight-knit family, I've always understood the value of community and giving back. From helping my parents with household chores to babysitting my younger cousins, I've learned the importance of teamwork and responsibility. In my community, I volunteer at food pantries and donation drives with the city of North Miami to help those in need. Whether it's lending a hand to a neighbor or participating in community clean-up projects, I strive to make a positive impact wherever I can. In doing so I made a big difference in the city of North Miami while serving as the Youth Clerk.
