Almost two years ago, I completed my second and final application cycle to physician assistant programs. I was earning a medical assistant’s salary with three children and a pregnant wife. As I hit submit, I prayed a simple prayer that has defined my life ever since. I closed my laptop with an overwhelming sense of peace, knowing that I had done my absolute best.
I am now a first-year physician assistant student at the University of Utah. I am sobered by the fact that I have been given a precious gift — the gift of knowing exactly what I was made to do. With this gift comes the weighty responsibility to steward it well for the good of my family and my future patients. I am seeking scholarships to help alleviate the financial burden of my education, enabling me to be fully present, whether in the classroom or at the dinner table.
