Hello! I am Ayanda Sutu, a current college senior. Growing up as an only child to parents from Lesotho (a country inside of South Africa) has allowed for me to live in two worlds: one blending in with American culture and being immersed in Lesotho culture with my family. Such experiences shape my identity as well as help me observe society. This led me to pursue studies in sociology and journalism. My goal is to advocate for those that may not have their voices heard. Through the privilege I have of living in America, I choose to give back to my roots. I have raised over 5,000 dollars (through GoFundMe) to provide Lesotho girls with sanitary pads/tampons in order to attend school. I want for young women to receive education and not feel stifled due to lack of resources. I am planning to pursue my masters degree in digital marketing. Not only am I passionate about education, but I want to inspire young, Lesotho women to utilize the power of knowledge.
