Ever since I was young, I was always fascinated by how the buildings around us enhance our mood, sense of passion, lifestyle, and even our well-being. Having lived most of my childhood in Saudi Arabia and having been mostly surrounded by somewhat dull buildings, I decided to become an architect. I dream of being capable of changing the world into a better place. The way buildings emit spiritual joy and energy has forever wondered me. As someone willing to become an architect, creating something worth remembering is my ultimate goal. Something that is not only appealing to the human eye but also as feasible as possible to the environment. And that is by making the design sustainable and eco-friendly. My perspective of this career is that focusing only on the aesthetic part is not everything. I am not in any way putting less value on beauty but also emphasizing the worth of use/impact a building reflects. I find great joy in improving other people's lives, helping them, and making them happy. That's what I look forward to ensure my clients, just sheer pleasure on their faces. To me, this is an incredible fulfilling feeling. Moreover, this degree is essential to me primarily because I want to make a difference. Architects have the power to lift the less fortunate out of their poverty. There is a serious housing crisis in many poor countries. Helping the undeveloped countries should be a priority. Many countries lack the basic necessities for leading a healthy life. Architects are able to form holistic models/designs that meet people's needs. And that is by making it not carbon-based, and of low cost and waste. This would also help me achieve another goal and that is reducing the threats of climate change. When I achieve that, I know I will be making a global international impact. The smallest of buildings in this world have impacted communities, cultures, and identity. In other words, Architecture is not only about the art of design and structure of buildings. An architect could change the world in his/her creative touches and visions. Architecture is a world of different elements and disciplines. It resonates with a country's economics, ecology, technology, and even our public health. An architect has the power to change global circumstances in our planet. They're able to lead humanity away from the cliff's edge. Our environment is a reflection of who we are and everyone wants to walk in a space that feels relaxing or that just feels right. In conclusion, when I think of Architecture, as much as I see beauty in buildings as a huge component, I also see social impact and social justice as a more significant part of this field. It's more of a humanitarian career that it is a profession. Through Architecture, we are able to rebuild a better and much resilient society with incredible innovations and investments. And that is why it is essential to me.
