In my life, I lost the 4 most important people in my life besides my parents in the span of 2 years. I was always persuaded and taught to push my feelings down and never show any emotions because I was a Boy. Later on, in my life, I realized how bad that actually was for my overall mental health to the point where I wanted to not be on this earth anymore. Promoting mental health awareness and offering assistance to individuals coping with mental health difficulties is one way I can dramatically enhance the health of others. Mental health is an important component of total health, although it is frequently stigmatized and ignored. Mental health problems hindered my capacity to function, resulting in me having low productivity, strained relationships, and a lower quality of life. That is why I am volunteering to Raise mental health awareness and offering assistance that may have a tremendous influence on the health and well-being of people and my community. The first event in my life that triggered my sense of thinking the way I did was that my brother who I so dearly loved and cared about passed away by means of shooting. I cannot describe what emotions and feelings I was going through. Even to this day I still sob and cry about it because it has impacted me in ways of how I show emotions and how I express myself to others. The second event in my life was when my grandpa died shortly right after my brother did. I believe he was so heartbroken. Those 2 events really changed my mindset forever. I had to grow up really quickly, much quicker than most students and people. I was only 10 when all of this occurred. Just imagine a 10-year-old going through all of this alone with no help because of how I was raised. No kid should ever have to go through what I went through. It is unacceptable. The third and last event I am comfortable sharing is when my Grandparents got deported when I was 12. I lost 4 of the most important people in my life in the span of 2 years. I had no one to fall back on or have support with. I was completely on my own since my mom was working 2 full-time jobs and my dad was out and about doing his own life dealing with his very bad drug addiction. I basically grew up with teachers because I looked up to them because I could not follow in the footsteps of anyone in my life. Ways that I can help is by mental health activist through means of including public service announcements, social media campaigns, and community events in my community. I want to be a Surgeon in my career and what led me to do that is that I love helping people. I hate seeing people suffer and go through what I had to go through as a 10-12-year-old. Overall, Raising mental health awareness has the traits of educating individuals and communities about mental health concerns, lowering the stigma associated with mental illness, and encouraging people to seek treatment when they need it. That is something I wish I had known when I was younger because I had a really bad history with my mental health. Those who are educated about mental health concerns are more likely to understand and empathize with those who are suffering from mental illness, resulting in a more supportive and inclusive community.
