Avery White is an incoming dental student at Texas Tech University’s Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine in El Paso, where she plans to pursue a DMD and MPH. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with degrees in Biological Sciences, Health & Society, and Religious Studies with a specialization in Religion and Culture, as well as a minor in Chemistry. During her time at SMU, Avery was actively involved in campus leadership and service. She held roles as an SMU Ambassador, Assistant Executive Director of The Big Event, undergraduate research assistant in the MAPL Lab, and Peruna, SMU’s human mascot. These experiences in service, public health, and patient care have shaped her goal of becoming an oral surgeon who serves underserved communities. Avery is especially interested in orthognathic jaw surgery and expanding access to care. Outside of school, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and staying active.
