My name is Avery McBee, I am currently attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am an undergraduate majoring in Studio with a focus in Painting and Drawing. I achieved my Associates Degree from The New School, Parsons School of Design in New York City where I studied Fashion Design until COVID. I mainly create figurative paintings with vibrant colors to reflect the beauty in everyday life. Whether it is to capture the mundane or the most important moment of one's life. I have experience working with mediums such as fashion design, shoe design, and screenwriting. I love everything art related and I am always excited to learn a new skill. My interests include art history, museums, reading, travel and film. I get my inspiration for my work through my experiences, friends, family, peers and my travels. When I worked as a substitute teacher, I discovered the importance of creating as though I am 5 again. Looking at life, art, and creativity as a way to express your heart freely without fear of judgement and to look at the world through the lens of curiosity. I have the opportunity to go on a study-trip this summer with SAIC to Japan. On this trip we will be learning about woodblock printing, dyeing, and paper making. I am in the process of applying to study abroad in Florence, Italy.
