My name is Austyn Kurth, and I am currently a high school senior. Throughout my high school career, I have been actively involved in both leadership roles and community service, which have shaped who I am today. As the ASB Senior Class President, I’ve had the unique opportunity to lead my peers, working closely with teachers, staff, and fellow students to organize events that strengthen our school community. From pep rallies to fundraising efforts, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to create a supportive and positive environment where everyone can thrive. These leadership experiences have not only taught me the importance of organization and teamwork but also the power of giving others a voice and fostering collaboration to achieve shared goals.
In addition to my leadership role, I’ve made it a priority to give back to my community through volunteer work. I have spent significant time volunteering at our local food bank, where I help sort and distribute food to families in need. This experience has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges many individuals face in our community and has inspired me to find ways to contribute to the wellbeing of others. Volunteering at the food bank and assisting with charity events has been incredibly rewarding, and it has shown me how small acts of service can have a significant impact. It has also instilled in me the value of empathy and compassion, qualities that I know will serve me well in my future career.
It is this passion for helping others that has inspired me to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. I have always been interested in health and wellness, and I see dental hygiene as a perfect way to combine my desire to help people with my interest in healthcare. I believe that oral health plays a crucial role in overall well-being, and I want to make a difference by helping patients maintain healthy smiles. However, my goals extend beyond just providing technical care. I want to educate my patients about the importance of good oral hygiene habits and empower them to take control of their health.
Dental hygiene offers me the chance to not only improve the health of my patients but also to positively impact their lives by giving them confidence in their appearance. I plan to utilize my trade skills in a healthcare setting where I can make a real difference in people’s lives. As a dental hygienist, I will work closely with patients, providing both hands-on care and education, while always offering compassionate support. I am excited to start this journey and contribute to the health of my community through my passion for dental hygiene and service.
Through my leadership, volunteer work, and commitment to helping others, I’ve learned the importance of serving others, empathy, and education. These experiences will guide me as I move forward in my education and career, and I’m eager to continue making a positive impact in the lives of others through the skills I gain as a dental hygienist.

I want to become a dental hygienist because I care about healthcare and helping people. To reach this goal, I plan to go to Eastern Washington University. The school has great programs and a friendly environment that will help me grow as a student and a person. I’m excited to learn the skills I need to succeed in the dental field and start a career where I can make a difference.
Helping others is something I’ve always enjoyed, and that’s why I’m drawn to dental hygiene. Dental hygienists do more than just clean teeth—they teach people how to take care of their oral health, prevent problems, and help them live healthier lives. Good oral health is important for overall health, and I like that this career lets me work with people while using technical skills. I look forward to helping people feel confident about their smiles and health.
As a senior in high school, I’ve worked hard to prepare for this path. Being ASB Senior Class President and a member of the National Honor Society has taught me how to stay organized, work well with others, and communicate. These skills will help me in college and when I start working as a dental hygienist.
In the future, I want to work in a dental office, helping people of all ages take care of their teeth. I also want to help people in underserved communities who might not usually get dental care. Learning new techniques and staying up to date on dental hygiene will always be important to me so I can give the best care possible.
Eastern Washington University is where my journey will begin. I know the school will give me the tools I need to reach my goals. I’m ready to work hard, help others, and make a difference through this career.
