My life goal is to do what I can to move the world in a more positive direction. While fulfilling my obligations in the Marine Corps Reserves; I was able to work as a mental health clinician as well as studying as a full-time non-traditional college student. For the 500 internship hours required as a capstone for my original bachelor degree, I was fortunate enough to travel to South Africa and work in an ER within the Khayelitsha township and experience a culture that was vastly different than my own. That experience sparked my love for the medical field and continues to drive me to want to give back to the world. How I plan to give back in the intimate way that I have envisioned is by continuing my education and receiving an additional bachelors degree in nursing. I’m currently working as an Emergency Department Technician at a level one trauma center in Indiana to get more hands on experience in the medical field so that I can better myself for the challenges ahead. With my actions, I plan on showing the world what true, selfless courage looks like.
