Financial and credit literacy truly begins at home, but not everyone has the opportunity to learn these skills early in life. I grew up in a low-income household, which made money something I had to understand quickly rather than take for granted. Because of this, I learned at a young age that financial decisions have long-term consequences, and that planning ahead is one of the most important ways to build a stable future. I have always been a saver. Even as a child, I understood the value of holding onto money rather than spending it immediately. In high school, I made the difficult decision to quit sports so I could start working after school. While many of my peers were focused on social activities or entertainment, I prioritized earning income and learning responsibility. Working consistently taught me discipline, time management, and the importance of earning what you have. My parents played a major role in shaping my financial mindset. My dad taught me the value of hard work and investing in the future. He invests in log trucks so others can work for him, showing me that money can be used to create opportunities rather than just be spent. From him, I learned that smart investments and patience can lead to long-term stability. My mom taught me about stocks and the importance of putting money somewhere it can grow, rather than letting it sit in a bank account losing value over time. These lessons helped me understand that financial success requires intention, education, and long-term thinking. I also learned how to limit my expenses and spend money only when it truly matters. I set boundaries that many people my age do not, such as limiting how often I eat out, avoiding the pressure to buy the newest products, and staying away from drugs or unnecessary distractions. Growing up with limited resources taught me that happiness does not come from constant spending, but from knowing you are building something meaningful for your future. My long-term goal is to attend medical school and pursue a career in healthcare. I understand that medical education is expensive and requires years of commitment, but I view it as an investment rather than a burden. Just as my parents taught me to invest money wisely, I plan to invest in my education because it offers long-term stability, purpose, and the ability to serve others. By applying my financial literacy, I plan to minimize unnecessary debt, seek scholarships, budget carefully, and make informed decisions throughout my education. Financial education has given me confidence and direction. I plan to use what I have learned to save for college, prepare for medical school, and continue investing in myself. My goal is to achieve financial independence while building a career that allows me to give back to my community and support future generations. By applying discipline, patience, and financial literacy, I am setting myself up for long-term success. Understanding money is not about wealth alone, but about responsibility, freedom, and creating a future where opportunity is earned and sustained.

Online platforms, tools, and digital resources have played an important role in helping me strengthen my understanding of challenging subjects, particularly in STEM courses such as calculus, statistics, and chemistry. These subjects often require not only memorization, but also a deep understanding of processes, concepts, and problem solving strategies. By using a variety of online tools, I have been able to learn more effectively and apply my knowledge with greater confidence. One of the most helpful resources I have used is artificial intelligence based learning tools. AI has allowed me to break down complex topics into clearer, step by step explanations. In subjects like calculus and statistics, where a single misunderstanding can affect an entire problem, being walked through each step has helped me identify where I went wrong and how to correct it. Instead of simply giving answers, these tools explain the reasoning behind each step, which has strengthened my problem solving skills and helped me apply concepts to new types of questions. This approach has made difficult material feel more manageable and has improved my overall understanding. It sort of acts like my own personal tutor, or teacher. In chemistry, online platforms have helped me visualize abstract concepts that can be difficult to grasp through textbooks alone. Digital explanations, diagrams, and practice problems have allowed me to better understand chemical reactions, equations, and scientific principles. These resources have also helped me prepare for exams by reinforcing key ideas and allowing me to practice applying formulas and concepts repeatedly until I felt confident. Another resource I frequently use is Quizlet and similar studying platforms. These tools have been especially useful for memorizing important terms, formulas, and definitions. Creating and reviewing flashcards helps me retain information more efficiently and identify areas where I need additional practice. Quizlet’s interactive features, such as practice tests and matching games, have made studying more engaging and have improved my long-term retention of material. Beyond helping me understand content, these online resources have taught me how to study more independently and effectively. I have learned how to seek out explanations, practice consistently, and review material in ways that work best for me. This has helped me apply what I learn not only in exams, but also in classroom discussions and future coursework. Overall, online platforms, AI tools, and study resources have been essential in supporting my academic growth. They have helped me develop stronger study habits, deepen my understanding of complex STEM subjects, and build the confidence needed to apply my knowledge successfully. As I continue my education, I plan to use these tools responsibly to further strengthen my learning and academic success.

Leadership and science together play a critical role in shaping our future by guiding innovation, solving global challenges, and improving quality of life. Science provides the knowledge and tools needed to understand the world, while leadership ensures that this knowledge is used responsibly, ethically, and effectively for the benefit of society. When strong leadership is combined with scientific advancement, meaningful progress becomes possible. Scientific discovery drives many of the changes that shape modern life, from medical breakthroughs to technological innovation. Advances in science have led to life-saving treatments, improved communication, and solutions to environmental challenges. However, science alone is not enough to create positive change. Without leadership, scientific discoveries may remain unused, misunderstood, or misapplied. Leaders help translate complex scientific information into practical solutions, policies, and actions that can benefit communities and future generations. Leadership in science is especially important when addressing complex issues such as public health, climate change, and disease prevention. Effective leaders inspire collaboration, encourage critical thinking, and promote evidence based decision making. They help guide research efforts toward goals that improve human health and protect the environment. In the medical field, scientific leadership plays a vital role in developing treatments, supporting ethical research, and ensuring that patients receive safe and effective care. At the same time, science strengthens leadership by encouraging problem-solving, curiosity, and adaptability. Scientific thinking teaches individuals to ask questions, analyze data, and learn from failure, which are qualities that are essential for strong leadership. Leaders who understand science are better equipped to make informed decisions and prepare society for future challenges. This is especially important in a rapidly changing world where new technologies and medical advancements emerge constantly. Together, leadership and science shape a future that is healthier, more innovative, and more resilient. By encouraging scientific literacy and developing leaders who value evidence and compassion, society can address challenges more effectively and responsibly. As science continues to advance, strong leadership will remain essential in guiding progress toward solutions that improve lives and create a better future for all.
