      Women in Nursing Scholarship
I want to be a nurse because I love helping people, the medical field interests me, and I've seen what all the nurses do and they seem to have just a huge role in the recovery of the patient. I am currently in Biomed II at Kiamich Technology Center in Mcalester Oklahoma. Biomed gives me an insight to what the medical field is like for example: I've gotten to tour the hospital in Mcalester, I've gotten the chance to dissected many organs/parts of the human body, and I have learned so much about the human body, and different sections of the medical field. During my life my grandparents have been in and out of hospital for as long as I can remember. My Mammashoe had a stroke in 2016 and the left side of her body became paralyzed. After the stroke, she was in rehab for a while and I would go visit her; I saw the nurses take extremely great care of her. They would help learn how to walk with a walker, how to eat again, and just learn how to use just the right side of her body. During Christmas of 2020, my Pawpa got COVID and was sent to the hospital. During this time I was not able to see him because he was in such bad condition and COVID still had restrictions for who could visit the hospital. I remember at one point he was on a ventilator and they thought he was brain dead and I wasn't able to see him. I was extremely worried but my parents told the nurses and doctors they were trying their very best to help him. Eventually, he was out of his coma but he was in the hospital bed for so long that he had bedsores and lost his ability to walk, his hand was not able to move, and he was just struggling to breathe. Long story short, he spent over 500 days in the hospital, rehab, and nursing homes. I saw many different nurses take care of him and get encouraged by his story. The nurses would help wash him, feed him, help him learn how to walk, etc. I remember making the nurses cookies and little goodies all the time. My heart poured out for the nurses. I saw them put in so much effort to help this random old man , that they did not know. But they still helped; it was so inspiring, watching these men and women care and help. My Pawpa passed away in May 2024, at the funeral so many of the nurses and doctors who took care of him came and sent their condolences. It was so thoughtful and I knew that my Pawpa was well taken care of. I felt a huge calling for it. I felt that I need to help people as much as I can and however I can. I want to be an oncology nurse practitioner. I want to be a nurse to help the people in need.
      Sparkle and Succeed Scholarship
Sparkling means brilliant and bright. People who have ADHD have brains that are neurodivergent. Neurodivergent means your brain works a little differently than a normal brain, and that makes you stand out. A diamond sparkles and stands out. A person with ADHD stands out and sparkles. I was diagnosed with ADHD in the second grade. ADHD has impacted my education in many ways both good and bad. The first way I remember ADHD impacting my education was when I had such a hard time when sitting still and working on my homework. I also struggled with reading comprehension. Due to my ADHD I had an IEP. During second, third, and little of fourth grades, I did not take a science or history class so I could work on my reading comprehension with my special education teacher. I remember getting in trouble a lot when I was younger and it was because I did not think before I acted or spoke. I found myself always being told to be quieter or to calm down, but I just could not. My parents took me to visit my doctor and they diagnosed me with ADHD combined (hyperactive and inattentive) and prescribed me Vyvanse. I started taking Vyvanse in the third grade. Vyvanse helps stimulate my brain to calm down and to focus. This medication has helped me a lot. In the third grade my parents decided to hold me back. I was a little upset at first, but soon I realized that being held back was the best decision. During my second year of third grade, I started to be the top student of my class. I was the first to finish my multiplication and division tables. I started taking science and history classes toward the end of fourth grade and in fifth grade so that I could take the state science test. Even after not taking a science class for a little over two years, I passed the science state test. I began gymnastics in fourth grade. Gymnastics was an outlet for me to be creative and to learn how to focus. Gymnasts have to learn to focus on details and to be mentally and physically strong. My coaches taught me how to have self-confidence and how to be the best that I could be. I ended my gymnastics career as a USAG level 6 and a national champion on the uneven bars. I have been on the Principal's and Superintendent's honor roll. I also got into gifted and talented. I was the salutatorian of my eighth grade class. I have taken honors pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2. I have also taken AP English 1 and 2, and biology 1. I am currently in Biomed 1 at Kiamichi Technology Center in McAlester, Oklahoma. Biomed 1 is a junior level class that only a couple sophomores get in; I am one of those few sophomores. In Biomed, I have gained three hours of college credit. I'm planning to be in the medical field after high school, and Biomed and college credits help me get to where I want to be. ADHD has helped me succeed in many ways. People might think of it as a setback, but I think it has given me more success than setbacks. Even though I had a hard time at first, I have learned how to be brilliant and shine and to focus better on school and life.
      1989 (Taylor's Version) Fan Scholarship
I first fell in love with Taylor Swift's music when I heard her 1989 album back in 2014. The first song that would be on my soundtrack would be "Shake It Off." I love this song because not everyone is going to like you or want to be friends with you. You are also going to have people in your life who are fake and do not care about your feelings or what they do to you. So this song helps me be ok with who I am and not care what others think of me. I used to feel so bad about myself, but I have learned to love myself. The next song would be "This Love," because the song means to me that everyone is going to see or feel loved in many different ways. It also seems like it could mean that everyone is going to go through different types of love. Like the love you should not be with but you are, or the love you keep going back to even though you should let it go. My next song would be "Blank Space," because as Taylor Swift says she wrote this song about misunderstanding people. In the song there is a lyric in the song that goes, "Got a long list of ex-lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane," but most of the people who have listened to the song thought the lyric was, "Got a Starbucks lover, they'll tell you I'm insane." This is kinda funny since she wrote this song about being misunderstood and people misunderstood her lyrics. I feel like people often do that when they judge or assume how or what people are going to be like. I know I have done this before and I was wrong. The next song I would choose is "Wildest Dream." I would choose this song because I just like it. It is just very well written. I would also choose "Now That We Don't Talk," because it talks about being ok with a relationship ending especially if it was for the best for the relationship to end. When you do not get the love back after you give all your love, you should not be in a relationship when the person you are with if they are not giving you the love you deserve. Finally, the last song from 1989 would be "You Are In Love." This song would be on the soundtrack because I feel like it says so much about how love feels or how love is shown in a relationship. Love is shown in many different ways like the five love languages. My love language is quality time. I feel loved if you will just spend time with me. I love so many of her songs on this album, so it is hard to just choose a few.
      “The Office” Obsessed! Fan Scholarship
The character I resonate most with from "The Office" is Pam. I resonate with her because she quiet and kind. I tend to be very shy when I first meet you. But like in the episode when Pam gets drunk and is very talkative that is how I am after I meet you. I also try to be nice to everyone. Pam is also very patient; especially since she had to deal with Roy and Michael. I have shown a lot of patience towards school, dealing with people, or reaching my goals. "The Office" has shaped my sense of humor in many ways. I am constantly saying, "That's what she said," or "Did I stutter?" I have been told that I am pretty funny. My perspective on the workplace dynamics has changed since I have watched "The Office." I used to think that working was not fun. But while watching "The Office," I realized that you can have fun at work. It is good to have friends and think of colleagues as family because you are gonna have to work with them for a while. So, it is a good idea to be really close with them. Lastly, I am a huge fan of "The Office." I've watched it since I was seven years old. My parents showed me the show.
