Ever since I was little I always wanted to be a nurse. To be able to help someone and make sure they are healthy. The opportunity to combine critical thinking, scientific knowledge, and empathetic communication to provide comfort, advocate for patients, and to make sure their healthcare has positive outcomes. Which I have always been drawn to these roles. This career offers continuous learning, diverse specialties, and opportunites to make a difference in various communities Those learning opportunities never end to learning about your patients to learning how to better there health and new ways too provide for them. My biggest inspiration in nursing is my big cousin. I’ve always wanted to be like her. To just a simple move that she does. Watching her pursue her nursing education has made me want to keep going and put a mindset in my head that I can do this know matter what. Whatever you put your mind to you can do it but first you need yourself to believe that before anyone else can and before you can help a patient with there health if your not doing everything you can for yourself.
What does “human touch” mean to me? Human touch, to me, is about the connections, conveying care, comfort, and empathy that anyone’s word can’t help or fix. Sometimes all someone needs is a little gentle touch or hug to comfort someone that is scared of there outcome. It’s something that every single person has not just a special someone. This is a way we all relate to someone to comfort to support and to understand. “Human touch” can impact patient care by fostering trust and rapport between the patient and caregiver. Such as holding the persons hand a touch on the shoulder or hug. This builds trust and communication between you and your patient knowing your their for them threw whatever is going on with there health. That simple touch could make there anxiety levels go down the brain responds to stress. This could also reduce pain, and improve their well-being. This could be an irreplaceable part of healing the patient. Beyond some of those physical benefits, the human touch strengthens therapeutic relationships. When the patient trust their caregivers they are more likely to communicate openly about some of the symptoms, concerns, or fears they are having. This openness improves assessment accuracy and supports better clinical outcomes. It can empower patients to participate actively in their care plans, promoting adherence to treatments and follow ups. Human touch is especially important in moment of vulnerability. Illness can strip individuals of independence and control. Compassionate interactions restore dignity and affirm a patient’s humanity. Even small gestures like maintaining eye contact, sitting down rather than standing over a patient, or even taking a moment to explain everything to a patient about a procedure or a new medication they will be taking. This demonstrate respect and care for the patient. There isn’t so much of human touch now with the ne technology and that’s what the patients are missing when it comes to healthcare. New technology cannot replace empathy or genuine connections you have with the patients. Healing involves both the body and the mind, and human touch bridges that gap. By integrating compassion with clinical skill, nurses create an environment where patients feel safe, valued, and supported an essential foundation for holistic healing.
