The person that inspires me is not somebody from my family or somebody I know personally. The person that inspires me the most is Daniel Seavey from the band Why Don’t We. Daniel is a very talented singer, songwriter, and performer on stage. Ever since I was young, I had always wanted to perform on stage and sing. Knowing all of Daniel’s story and everything he went through made me want to do it even more.
When Daniel was only fifteen years old when he started to gain fame on American Idol. Daniel even started to perform before then at family events and at his school. I wanted to learn to play guitar for a long time as my only instrument. Daniel had learned to play guitar, piano, cello, recorder, saxophone, drums, violin, and bass before he was at the age of fifteen. This has inspired me to want to learn even more instruments than I ever wanted to. At the age of fifteen, I know how to play the flute, one song on the piano, part of a song on my guitar, and I can do basic beats on a drum set.
When Daniel was on American Idol, he made it to the top nine performers before he got voted off on his birthday. Daniel being voted off did not stop him from performing. He started to post videos of him covering songs to YouTube and eventually went on a YouTube tour where he got to perform again. While on the tour Daniel met four of his best friends and together, they formed a band. In the summer of 2019, Daniel had to go through surgery to help him to be able to breathe properly. Daniel had always had a hard time breathing when he was performing and he never gave up. Daniel showed me that if you really want your dream to come true then you have to continuously work at it no matter what.
Today Daniel can breathe properly and has even performed while sick. He produced his band’s first song on their own and released it on black Friday 2019. They work hard all year round to produce music and take very few breaks for themselves. Daniel has inspired me so much that I had stopped caring what other people thought about my singing and did it because it made me happy. I now post covers of me singing to my fan account on Instagram and slowly pursue my dreams one step at a time.
