I love playing golf because it is both a mental and physical challenge that helps me learn and grow with each stroke. It teaches me patience, focus, and how important strategy is; these are qualities I use in my personal life, as well as in my major. I am a business student motivated by success and to do well in environments that call for critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership. My commitment to continued improvement on the course or in my studies makes me a very strong candidate for any position that values growth and resilience. My ultimate goal is to be a successful businessperson while remaining connected to my love of golf.

Golf has become one of the meaningful parts of my life, and it is not just a sport that I enjoy, but a way in which I have come to shape my perspective about myself, my relationships, and the world around me. The thing I love most about golf is its pace. To walk through each hole and notice the nature around me. The course becomes a quiet place in which I can notice small things: the change in the wind, the flag waving around, the animals crawling around. These quiet moments remind me that, at its core, golf really is not about competition at all; it is about being present and patient. Along the way, the sport has also introduced me to some of my closest friends. There is something unique about spending hours together outside, sharing both triumphs and frustrations, that naturally builds connection. In fact, the friendships I have made through golf, I know, will be lifelong.
My journey to this point has not, however, been without challenges. I have suffered a series of injuries since I was in college. None of them was serious, but the constant cycle of recovering from one minor issue just in time for another to appear eventually took a mental toll. It became exhausting to feel my body holding me back, and I was scared that if I made one wrong swing, I would injure myself again. It became hard to focus on having a clear mind and confidence when I would worry constantly about my physical limitations. Eventually, these injuries taught me how to be resilient. I learned to listen to my body, be patient with my progress and appreciate days when everything felt good. I never take any round for granted, no matter how well or poorly I played. I am just happy to have the ability to play. Thus, overcoming these struggles did much to strengthen my game and my mindset.
Being a female golfer comes with its challenges. While more women than ever are taking up the sport, the difference between men's and women's play remains noticeable. One of the largest challenges I encounter is in club head speed. Men naturally tend to have more speed, which allows them to miss-hit the ball and still achieve greater distance. As a woman, I do not have that margin for error. I am forced to hit the ball much more solidly to have the same quality of shots. Instead of letting this discourage me, I have worked harder on maintaining good technique, tempo, and solid contact. Through this, I have become a more dedicated and intentional golfer.
Golf continues to give me new challenges and motivates me to grow as a person. It has given me friendships, tenacity, and a way to let go of stress. Golf is an incredible game that I am lucky enough to play. I am constantly finding new ways to love the game more and more each year.
