Anime Enthusiast Scholarship
One anime series that I catch myself watching over and over again will be One Piece. This might not seem too appealing to others because One Piece has over a thousand episodes. But in reality those episodes are not long. I was one of those people who said that One Piece is a very long anime and did not get how people could watch it. But then I started it because what worse thing could have happened if I had watched it? From then all I did was watch anime the entire day.
I slowly started loving the anime because it was interesting and what I have learned from Monkey D. Luffy who wants to become a king of pirates is that if you want to achieve something you will do whatever it takes to get it. In my opinion, what makes the show endlessly captivating for me is that Luffy believes in himself as the king of pirates. He did not let anyone look down on him. Every time he mentions he will be the king of pirates he says it with confidence and motive. Not only that his crew members also made me watch the show over again because throughout the season you can honestly tell that they are proud that Luffy was their captain. They also believed in Luffy that he would overcome his goals. Luffy also believed his crew members each of them would get the goal that they wanted since day one of sailing with their captain Luffy.
One Piece is a beautiful anime it is also about the tremendous adventures that they go to. It will be always captivating because every island they stop it holds big memories and lessons to it. You never know what will happen next to every island that they step into. This anime will be the series I watch every few episodes because the story that they hold impacts each character of the story.
Community Health Ambassador Scholarship for Nursing Students
I want to pursue a degree in nursing because I want to use my power to help people who experience health struggles. I have immigrant parents and this is mostly the reason why we started living in the United States because they value my future. They sacrificed to get here so I want to prove to my parent's that I am using this opportunity to become successful and save people's lives in the future. My family are my supporters they believe in me that I can become a Registered Nurse one day. They are the reason I keep pushing even though school struggles hit me but in the end, I will stand up and fight.
I believe in myself that I will become a nurse when I grow up it has been my dream since I was young. I always believed in the saying "You have to put your mind to it to achieve your goals". I am a high school senior I came this far in my education. Thinking of people of old people struggling to take care of themselves, looking at sick children, looking at adults that have a disease. This happening motivates me to pursue my studies. I want to be the person who takes care of these people. Ensuring that these patients are getting the treatment that they need. Being by their side when they think they can not fight it anymore.
This reflects on my experiences since growing up I have seen many family members dying and suffering from a condition. My father died because of a heart attack. My grandmother suffering from diabetes until now. My grandfather has recently had a stroke but thankfully he is somewhat in good condition he is still fighting to get better. It hurts as a daughter and granddaughter to see these important people suffer and not being able to be a big help in their lives makes my heart ache. I know I can be the person who can take care of them in the future.
I can contribute to my community as a nurse by volunteering at a homeless shelter because those are the people who struggle the most in seeking medical care. Homeless shelters can have messed up medical care systems due to financial problems. Which it is It is difficult for homeless people to get taken care of. I would want to be a volunteer because as I nurse it is my job to look out these people who need medical attention. Homeless people can suffer from a condition they do not know since they might not have enough guidance around them. As a nurse, it is my responsibility to be able to educate and treat people for their illnesses.
Alexander de Guia Memorial Scholarship
My education will assist me in making the world a better place for others by educating and helping people out so they do not experience what I have experienced growing up. My father passed away when I was 6 years old. When he passed away I slowly realized I wanted to become a Registered Nurse because I do not want people to experience what I have experienced. I know I was young when my father passed away but sometimes I wished I was more alert on what was going on with him. I was young so I was not educated on how heart attack occurs and I did not even know that is but all I knew it was a disease. Now that I am 17 years old every time I hear the word "Heart attack" it reminds me of my father. It motivated me to help people to prevent heart attacks. Not only that my father was young and skinny. So I was not even expecting that he would be sick but that is also how I learned that just because someone is skinny it does not mean that they are healthy.
This led me to realize that helping other young people or adults with their eating disorders. I also suffered from eating disorders when I was about 15 years old but I slowly started seeing food as my fuel for my body, not my enemy. I knew I wanted to become a nurse so I started thinking about how can I become one when I could not even take care of my body. These two stories made me want to be the person who prevents a bad habit and to take care of someone because I know how it feels to be in this situation without any guidance around me.
I grew up in the Philippines but my family's life there when my father was alive it was not so easy. We had this tiny apartment my mother was a housewife and my father had a job but this job did not pay him much. All my parents wanted for me was a good education when my dad passed away my mom and I went through a tough situation we lived in her aunt's house for years and after that, my mom and I lived in my grandparent's house but we only got a little room. When I saw my mother struggling financially I wanted to do well in my education so she would not worry about money and she would not struggle like that anymore.
My mom met my stepfather now who is the reason why I got to the United States. We had everything that we needed but sometimes my mom and my stepdad fought over money. So all my life has to do with financial needs. Now that I am going to college the only reason I can not go to a 4 years university is because my parents can not afford it. But I am very settled on going to community college first because, within those two years, I will have a job and put all my paycheck into my university plan. I will apply for any scholarship I can get because I know this money will help prevent me from going into more debt in my college journey. This scholarship can make my educational journey a big impact because I could use it to buy a textbook, tuition, and other essential uses for my school. All I want is to become a nurse and I will do everything to get there.
