Ultimately, my goal is to become a Family Nurse-Practitioner and serve in low-income communities. I grew up in a low-income family, and this would have been something helpful to my family, so I want to give that to a community in need.

Bold Wise Words Scholarship
The wisest thing I have ever heard was not in the actual sense of hearing. It was a statement that I read. I had been looking for an idea for a graduation cap design, and I read the statement on someone else’s. The quote read “I wanted to give up, but then I remembered who was watching.” This statement strongly resonated with me.
I am a first-generation college student. I grew up watching my parents try time and time again to obtain a Bachelor’s degree. However, no matter how hard they worked, they could not obtain their goals. Especially not bouncing between jobs. They had six children, so providing for us was always their top priority, naturally.
Of the six, I was the fourth. I watched three siblings go through high school before me. The first graduated late, the third did not graduate at all. But the second? He graduated on time, and also went to college.
When he graduated college, that was the first time I felt like a degree was feasible for me to obtain. So I applied to some colleges before ending up where I am now. I was so excited to begin my college career! And then I felt my world crashing down. Covid-19 hit. There were questions of if colleges would open at all or not.
They ended up opening, though different from what my brother had to tell me about college. Classes were mostly online—even labs. Paying for college was harder, as there were no jobs. I was tempted to give up numerous times. But then I remembered who was watching—I had two younger brothers still. One was getting ready to start applying to schools, but wondered if he could do it. I had to show them they could. This wise statement helped me.
