Bio

I'm a dedicated engineering student with a passion for robotics, mechanical design, and innovation. Over the years, I've practiced martial arts and been deeply involved in robotics, even founding a high school robotics team that fueled my interest in engineering. I aspire to become a Disney Imagineer, where I can blend my creativity and technical skills to design experiences that bring joy to others. My multicultural background as Hispanic, Black, and white, combined with my fluency in English and Japanese, has inspired me to view engineering through an inclusive lens. I’m working toward a minor in international relations alongside my major, aiming to bridge cultural gaps and create global solutions in technology. I hope to inspire other young women and underrepresented individuals to explore STEM and contribute to fields where diverse perspectives are essential. Through my future career, I intend to honor the legacy of those who paved the way in robotics by creating meaningful, accessible technology that positively impacts communities worldwide.

      Women in STEM Scholarship
I decided to join STEM because I am curious about how things work and moved by the challenge of solving real-life problems. Engineering offers a unique mix of creativity and analytical thinking, and this combination really inspires me. I just love building robots, exploring the possibilities of mechanical design, and seeing how different components come together to form one functional system. I dream of working as a Disney Imagineer, where imaginative dreams spring to life through designs and technological innovations, creating wonder and magic for people across all age groups. Growing up, I didn't see many people like me in the field of STEM, which literally had me strive to change that narrative. I want to be that change as a woman in STEM. Representation is everything, and I think more women, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, have a tendency to enrich the innovations we are going to make. In engineering, diversity isn't about parity; it is about the different perspectives diverse upbringings bring into the solving of complex problems. I would like to bring my perspective to the field of STEM in order to have a wide approach in creating solutions that reflect the needs of numerous communities. My commitment to making a difference in STEM is not just on the technical side. In addition to my engineering major, I plan to minor in international relations that will help me to understand the global landscape of engineering and technology. STEM is not just about building for today but finding sustainable solutions for tomorrow. I also hope to use my education as a means of bridging cultural gaps to collaborate on solutions that are inclusive and globally conscious. I strongly feel that by combining technical skills as an engineer with a comprehensive view from an international perspective, I am part of projects more sensitive to community needs than just being strictly technically feasible. Having worked with robotics for years, this has made me that girl who has been inspired by technology, and now I am looking forward to inspiring others and younger women. I will go ahead to make engineering and robotics friendly and exciting while at the same time mentoring others who might have never considered the field of STEM as their path. This is all part and parcel of my goal in showing others that they too can break the stereotype and meaningfully contribute to the field of STEM. After all, when it comes to my professional journey, I want it to stand for more than just me and my success. I want to leave behind a legacy with regard to inclusion and innovative technology that is useful and uplifting. As a female in the STEM world, I vow to make a path not only through which other women can follow but where they will help challenge the rules and prove with them that with diversity, we will build not only better solutions but most importantly, a better future for all.
